Pearl Ultra-Grip Brass Tambourine Red

Let me start with saying the ergonomic grip on these is worth buying even if it didn't make a sound! I had never used a brass tamb before, and I thought it would be louder and crisper, but it's really a much warmer sound. I'd suggest mic'ing it if you're playing with a band. I never mess with the adjustable parts of this, cause I don't think it really matters. But it's a good option if you're really finicky. Solid construction, warm sound. Thanks, Pearl!

The jingle control allows you to tailor the sound to be as wet or dry as you like, and the rubber not only pads the impact from sticks, but also allows for thumb rolls. I use this frequently in a variety of styles, and it is durable and versatile. My one disappointment with this tambourine came while playing with a University pep band. The sharp corner beside the handle (designed to fit the mounting bracket) causes rubbing and blistering when shaken at the tambourine's loudest potential.

I needed a Tambourine in a pinch and picked this one up because of the included mounting bracket. Over time, I've discovered how useful the jingle control really is. What I initially thought was a bit gimmicky, has become a favorite feature of mine as it let's me choose exactly how much resonance I get out of those jingles.
