collapse expand iconDescription

PreSonus’ 32-channel Series III StudioLive 32R is both a versatile AVB stage box for StudioLive Series III consoles and the most powerful rack mixer in its class. It can operate as a simple stage box or as a combined stage box/monitor mixer, including remote control of the preamps and phantom power from the Series III console.

As with Series III consoles, the StudioLive 32R is fully recallable and features a plug-in-style signal-processing workflow with vintage-style EQ and compression options on every channel; 16 FlexMixes that can be AUX, Subgroup or Matrix mixes; four fixed subgroups; 6-band fully parametric EQ on all mix outputs and built-in AVB networking. In addition to 40x40 USB and 55x55 AVB recording interfaces, the StudioLive 32R features an onboard stereo SD recorder.

This is probably the best solution to multitrack loads of inputs simultaneously in studio for us. It's whisper quiet and really transparent. the ability to mix and control monitor mixes from iphone or ipad works seamlessly. So awesome to have 32 line or xlr inputs and a dozen independent monitor mixes for the band. Pair this with the studiolive 32sx mixer and there's so much capability with these units. I've gigged where we simply bring a 4u rack that has this mixer, and headphone amp. Connect this to 2 main speakers and you have a 32 channel mixer with independent headphone mix and control with built in 1176 and La2a style compression and it's the size of a couple shoe boxes. No DI necessary for acoustics or keys. Preamps have plenty of gain for even hungry mics like Sure sm7b. The gate on this works amazingly well too.

I run a studio. Just swapped out a Behringer X32r for the StudioLive 32r. I like the sound of the presonus better, although I was able to get great sounds out of the Behringer. But Behringer's mixing software is much better. The Presonus mixing software works but it's much more clunky. Some examples: - Behringer's channels are slimmer on screen; you can see more of what's going on at once - I can make several custom views of whichever channels I want in whichever order I want with Behringer. If I can do this with Presonus' software, I don't see how. This would be a GREAT feature to add in a future release. - Behringer's software shows more information about each channel without having to change screens - You can choose where in the signal chain AUX (headphone) sends are taken from with Behringer (including top of the channel, pre insert, post insert, post EQ, pre or post fader. Presonus has a single switch for pre/post only. - When I change screens in the presonus software (and I have to a LOT more than with Behringer's) my channels scroll all the way left and I end up looking at about the 1st 10 channels. I keep having to re-scroll to the right after I say, change a send to a headphone mix and switch back to the main mix view - I can choose the name of any channel from a bank of options, but I can't just type the name of my channel with Presonus (I can with Behringer). - I can control the sends for up to 16 submixes (headphones) from ONE SCREEN with Behringer's software. I have to switch screens each time I change the level of a any single headphone send with Presonus'. Big bummer for me here, especially combined with the scrolling problem above. Very slow.
