Primacoustic

collapse expand iconDescription

The unique Primacoustic CrashGuard isolates your drum microphone to attenuate the sound of cymbals while you're recording. The net effect: reduced interference between the two sound sources for greater control over the drum sound.

Compact and lightweight, Primacoustic CrashGuards fit most popular drum microphones. Just mount directly on your boom stand using the microphone's clip to hold the CrashGuard in place. The high-impact ABS construction is tough enough to withstand drum stick hits by even the most aggressive drummer.

To ensure the microphone performance is maintained, the CrashGuard's underbelly is fully coated with high-density open-cell foam to absorb internal reflections and reduce phase cancellation. Part of the innovative CrashGuard is an extended cable cutout permitting precise microphone positioning, further optimizing performance.

Once in place, the CrashGuard surrounds the microphone with a sonic barrier. By reducing cymbal sound spill, you'll capture more drum sound. This enables engineers to EQ the drum, increasing high end for more attack without accentuating cymbal sound. Engineers will also have an improved ability to balance each sound on close proximity sources like hi-hats or snares.

I would've gave it 0 stars, but that wasn't an option. Do not waste your money on these things! They are super cheap and flimsy and way too bulky. The way they connect to the mic stand doesn't make a ton of sense either. They did nothing really to help block any cymbal noise. You could make way more effective crash guards with pvc and some auralex foam for a couple dollars. These things just don't work.
