I would buy this Product again and again.
I use this stand for in house recording it is the perfect addition to my studio and i will be getting another one or two soon. I have an AKG Perception 420 Condenser Microphone that is being used on this stand and i have had no problems with the assembly of the stand or the use of the stand.

Bad Out of the Box, but very FIXABLE
These mic stands are a paradox. The chassis is built like a tank, all heavy-gauge steel and welded construction. But the fittings for the moving parts are flimsy and horrible. Read the other reviews to explain how they fail. Read my review if you want to FIX them! If you are the least bit handy with tools, you can turn these stands from junk into what they were supposed to be -- secure, smooth-operating, heavy-duty equipment -- using standard hardware store parts, for about fifteen-and-change USD per stand. Definitely worth doing now that they are on closeout. FIRST: Replace that faulty flip latch on the boom: Drill a 1/4" hole in the top of the tilt head, and tap it with threads to accept a 5/16"-18tpi male clamping knob. This will completely cure the slipping and rotating of the boom. This solution will tend to mar the paint job on the boom, but hey, the set screw on the counterweight was already doing that. SECOND: Upgrade the locking bolt assembly on the boom tilt head: Replace the original carriage bolt with one that is 1/2" longer, add some fender washers, a rubber washer, and a standard female clamping knob. The fender washers act as shims in the assembly, making the action smoother. The rubber washer acts as a brake when tightened. It takes one 3/8" flat washer, three 5/16" fender washers, and one 5/16" rubber washer. It should be obvious where they fit into the assembly to take up the chatter. Just slip them into the loose spots. A standard 5/16"-18tpi female clamping knob means no more stripped threads when locking down the swivel head. That's it! Enjoy your upgraded mic stand. If you were careful, the mods look stock, and it should last you a lifetime.

Good price for the stand. Unfortunately the first one was broken and the website passed the buck to the store who passed it back to my local GC store. If I knew that the first time I would've called them first.
Buy it on sale, mod it, save $$$

As said in another review, the stand is a conundrum-great bones, but the details need changing. I bought two on clearance and paid less than one decent small K&M stand. Unmodified I've loaded it with reasonably heavy mics-EV RE27, Sennheiser MK8, both in shock mounts, extended the boom almost the whole way horizontally-not a problem. The casters are rinkydink and absolutely need replacing. But that's not much money. For a project studio and occasional location work this stand is a steal. It's too big for an 8x10 bedroom studio, but you might get it anyway as it's so much more stable than the the cheap stand and boom sets you're tempted to buy. I broke my own rule about not buying cheap stands when I bought these. But I saved about $200 from what I would have purchased. 4 stars for the $ to utility ratio for a small, moderately active studio.
I will purchase more in the future.
