collapse expand iconDescription

The RØDE M3 is an extremely versatile, low-noise wide-response, small diaphragm cardioid condenser than can save your bacon in a number of ways. For example, say you show up to record a gig and there's not enough phantom powered inputs left for miking an acoustic guitar or drum overheads. No sweat. Just an M3 or two, some 9-volt batteries, and you're good to go. Of course, if phantom power is not an issue and you're just looking for an affordable studio mic for acoustic guitars, drum overheads, or percussive instruments that can capture the transients and highs with excellent sound quality, the M3 has got you covered.

An end-address condenser microphone, the RØDE M3 features a heavy-duty metal body, category-leading low self-noise, three stage pad (O, -10db, -20db), a battery status LED and a high-pass filter.

The M3 microphone comes complete with windshield and stand mount, and can be powered via a 9V battery or 24-48V Phantom.

The mic had a great sound when it worked. The first one I bought used. When I opened it up, as you have to do this to access the pad switch, as well as put in the 9v battery to do field recording, it was difficult to open. When I was finally able to do so, all that was inside was shards of plastic. Guitar center was awesome and refunded me no questions asked. The second one I bought new with a protection plan, cause I thought it was a fluke and liked that it could be used to do field recording. The second one, a week after recieving it, started producing an aweful buzzing sound, and this was after switching cables and mxl inputs in my mixer. I was only able to use it for one recording session. All in all, there are better, more dependable options at this price range. I would not recommend this mic.

great sounding mic for the price, holy cow. the features and quality seem way out of this price range but if you're looking for a good small diaphragm condenser on a budget, this is a great choice. have only used on acoustic instruments and vocals so far but the sound is incredibly accurate and agreeable. when i upgrade my preamps im sure i'll be further blown away by the capability of these mics. was my first Rode purchase but won't be my last xD

This is a great everyday microphone to use in various situations. Power or no phantom power is no problem and this mic works very well in any and all situations. I've used for Nat Sounds, Spoken Word, and Mic'd various instruments. Exceeded expectations in all uses. Worked so well I bought a second.
