Radial Engineering ProDI Passive Direct Box

How to Choose a DI: Active vs. Passive

Description
The Radial Engineering ProDI is a high-performance passive direct box that delivers pure, noise-free signal for live and recording applications. The ProDI employs a custom-made transformer to convert instrument impedance, eliminating ground loops and ensuring the highest quality signal transfer. Linear frequency response from 20Hz to 18kHz means zero coloration of your tone. Simply plug in your instrument via the 1/4" input and thru jacks and send a balanced signal to the mixer or interface via the XLR output.
Premium Components for Unparalleled Performance
At the heart of the ProDI is a custom-made transformer, crafted to Radial's exacting standards. The transformer provides galvanic isolation, eliminating hum and buzz from ground loops. It also converts the high-impedance signal from an instrument to the low-impedance balanced signal needed for long cable runs. The result is a clean, clear signal free of noise and interference.
Built for the Rigors of the Road
Like all Radial products, the ProDI is built to withstand the challenges of live performance and touring. The 14-gauge steel chassis protects the sensitive internal components. An outdoor-rated, baked enamel finish resists scratches and corrosion. Input and thru jacks are recessed to prevent damage. A -15dB pad switch allows use of the DI with a wide range of instruments. A ground lift switch helps eliminate stubborn ground loops when needed.
Simple Yet Versatile Solution
With a single XLR output, the ProDI keeps things simple while providing maximum versatility. Use it with bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keyboards, drum machines or any other instrument with a 1/4" output. The ProDI's balanced low-impedance signal means long cable runs without noise or signal degradation. An affordable, road-ready solution for high-quality DI, the ProDI delivers Radial's signature no-compromise performance and reliability.

Excellent DI for the $
This DI box rocks! I send both my Taylor 514ce & Godin Flat5X through this to the PA (A/B switch) and it carries my tone crystal clear and full sounding, with no added noise. Very clean & natural sounding, and it's passive - so no batteries or phantom power to worry about. The next best DI to the Radial JDI, which I will buy next to get rid of the A/B switch. Best DI under $100!

Sounded great; died after less than 20 gigs.
I bought this to replace my $30 Whirlwind DI; I figured I owed myself an upgrade. I used it for 15-20 gigs; it sounded very good. It just stopped working one day, after I had had it for about six months. Guitar Center would not repair or replace it because I didn't have my receipt (makes you wonder why they ask you for your phone number every time), and Radial said the same thing. I bought a BSS from another retailer, and might try to fix this myself since neither the store or the manufacturer have any interest in fixing the problem.

A great tool to have on hand. I usually have other ways to connect my pedal board to a mixer (Boss IR-2, Scarlett 2i) but sometimes it's good to have a DI handy. Radial is always good stuff.

This states it has XLR input, but mine only has an XLR output. Which is it?
I’m very sorry for the confusion. The output is XLR. Thank you for pointing that out. I will pass it on to our web team.
