The multi-mode Horizon STL-1 Stereo Line Direct Box functions as 2 separate direct boxes in stereo mode. In mono mode 2 high-impedance, unbalanced input signals can be combined into one low-impedance, balanced output mono channel to conserve channels in a snake. Also in mono mode, 2 high-impedance unbalanced signals can be combined into one low-impedance balanced signal, isolated and split into 2 separate mono output signals. The Horizon STL-1 comes with 2 shunts on the input jacks to eliminate feedback noise.

Very versatile, many configurations and does the job well. A little dangerous for my curious but clueless father-in-law, he loves flipping switches and this has several ... :)

I love this box for it's versatility. I run my 2 instruments in, and dum mono for the pa and my iem system. Rubber feet came ogf in 1 gig, but oh well.

I bought this a year ago and now am replacing it. I get hum and other noises seemingly randomly. Upon opening it I discovered that slight movements of the wires inside make radical differences in the noise level. Direct boxes are inherently sensitive. You just can't get a professional result with this level of construction. I'm looking into a Whirlwind Direct2 at twice the price.

this is a great buy for the money. I have not tried it in studio yet however I do use it for live sound. I typically run keyboards through in a stereo setup and it gets great sound and elimates 100% of the nasty buzz that you usually get from keyboards. also if you dont want to run it in stereo, you just flip a switch on the back and bam! you have two individual lines which really helps when your lead guitarist wants multiple guitars hooked up and ready to go at once. you simply run each guitar into a different line, make sure its set on mono and it opperates just like two seperate DI's.
