The Dirty 30s is light weight and well made. It is not as loud as a resonator but it holds it's place with just enough punch to be heard quite well. Bought this to try my hand at claw-hammer and two-finger banjoing. I believe it would hold up just as well as some of the other open-backs priced 2 to3 times the price of the RK.

This is my outside/travel/campfire banjo so I'm not using my show banjo. It's light, and it sounds great.

Four stars is for the banjo itself. I know many people complain about receiving their banjo and having to assemble the bridge. Well this one is the same way but they at least pencil marked the corners on the head for you. Just loosen the strings, flip up the bridge and tune it. It is an economical banjo of decent quality and it sounds great to me. The reason I left off one star is for the momos at guitar center. The guitar guy who couldn't be bothered with banjo stuff who dropped a banjo box next to me and walked away. No open the box, check it out and make sure it's good to go. Prima Donna momos.

This is a great little open back banjo for the price. I am enjoying learning to play clawhammer style on it. Look forward to many hours of fun with it.

I started playing Banjo this year and so far I really like this one. It has a beautiful worn cherry red satin finish, but I wish it had a better clear glossy shine though. Overall it stays it tune fairly well and you can do different tunings too. And the neck & truss rod seem to be right and in place. Yeah, to me it sounds good like classic old school 1930's banjo picking music.
