collapse expand iconDescription

Part of the Recording King’s Tonewood Reserve Series, the RD-318 evokes classic dreadnought sound and volume due to hand-selected tonewoods and vintage styling. Featuring a solid aged Adirondack spruce top for excellent projection, solid mahogany back and sides for added brightness and a durable rosewood fretboard, the 318 delivers a traditional look with a powerful fundamental tone. For the guitarist who needs the volume only a dreadnought can provide, but wants the warmth and vibrancy that comes with aged tonewoods, the RD-318 offers the best of both worlds.

I have finally gone back to a dreadnought size guitar after shoulder surgery. I am blown away by this 318 Recording King guitar. Love the v-neck and the wood this guitar is made out of about. I'm glad it found me!!!

  • I would definitely buy again

My RD-318 looks stunning and has a very nice tone with plenty of volume for me. It feels like a quality instrument. Mine holds its tune well after the initial string stretching. Haven't experienced excessive buzzing or noticed any quality issues.

  • Not as great as I was expecting

I don't mean to be too harsh but I just didn't feel like the guitar had good projection. It sounded kind of muted and maybe that has to do with the thick poly finish on it or the bracing. It is beautiful and plays pretty good out of the box. With an aged adirondack spruce top and solid mahogany body, one would think you would have to pay $$$ but somehow they can do this at recording king, not martin. Anyways, it is still a great deal, I guess I just expected more in terms of tone and projection. I would give it 3.5-4.0 stars. For value 5.0+
