RPH-R1-BRB Dirty 30s Single 0 Resonator

Recording King

collapse expand iconDescription

The Recording King Dirty 30s resonator guitar delivers tons of classic style and a vintage resonator tone perfect for old-school blues and slide players. The single 0 size resonator drips with vibe, from the f-holes to the metal tailpiece. Traditional resonator sound is delivered from a hand-spun European 9.5" cone in a pedestal soundwell. Soundposts support the circle of the soundwell and the cone vibrations are free to bounce within the full cavity of the body. The f-holes are placed to optimize bass and treble frequencies as they exit the body for the perfect dry, throaty resonator tone. Whether you're a songwriter who wants vintage blues or slide sound, or a first-time player who wants something a little cooler, the Recording King Dirty 30s Resonator single 0 provides traditional resonator tone in a small road-worthy body.

Unfortunately the guitar I received was not playable. The nut was not glued down and there was a string buzz on the first fret so bad you could not play the guitar. Guitar Center was great on the return.

I played and sold a resonator guitar several years ago. I really wasn't ready to appreciate the sound and fun of playing it. Recently, I decided to give it another try and tested out four resonators GC had at my local store. I don't need a howler because I play mellow delta blues. This is a GC Exclusive deal and I got it on sale. I absolutely loved the woody mellow but unique sound. The action was good up and down the neck. It stays in tune and it's pretty easy to switch from standard to other tunings. I was ready to spend up to a grand to get the sound I was looking for but this was actually the least expensive resonator I tried. I bought it for fun but after playing it for a few weeks I also plan to use it when I gig. If you are new to resonators try a few different ones and pick by what feels good not the price.

  • Not the top of the line but really decent for the price.
