Great Drum
I bought this drum about a month ago and have used it in several performances now. I'll typically use a my 14" wooden remo djembe or fat congas cajon, but this has been a great change of pace! It has the warmth and depth of my wooden djembe, but gives me the higher highs than my cajon. This is a great deal for such a versatile instrument. In addition the composite material its made of makes this drum light and tough. This was a great purchase.

Remo 2 Piece Plastic Djembe
I have Played the new Remo 2 Pc Plastic Djembe in one of my Groups. Nice Looking drum and dark colored head. Nice hardware as well. Fault was on the High sl;aps it seems the head material is to thick and unable to get the crack a slap needs. On the Lows the bass does not resonate very long and stops short. other than that a pretty good drum for the money.

If you own a mahogany, base, goatskin-head drum, this doesn't quite sound as rich. But it sure is darn close. Wonderful. Beautiful. Easy to play.
Small, Light, Great Variety of Bass & Treble Tones, Tunable!

I went to Guitar Center and tried a few Djembe models out, including Meinl, Toca and this one. I chose this one for a number of reasons: 1) Excellent bass tone. Although this is a fairly small Djembe, the bass tone is excellent. I need to replace some unwieldy bass drums in my small apartment and this was perfect. The Meinl model with attractive African carvings didn't have the same resonance. 2) You can tune it. Most of the other models can't be tuned. That makes this particular djembe better for recording. 3) It is small and light. This one sounds better than the bigger models and takes up less real estate.
My favorite djembe!

Been playing hand percussions for a while from congas to Bongos different size Djembe's to dumbek's. But the one is my go to drum. Not a one trick poNY you can get different tones out of it, very Snappy, can you use your fingers one finger two fingers and it rings cover with one hand do some patterns and it snaps my favorite drum I love it. Now I'm looking for an 18 in. to accompany it. I guess the only con would be it has a poor bass quality, but it's a small drum wouldn't expect bass to be in it.

I got this drum for a friend of mine. It's nice and light weight and has pretty good tones. Though depending on where and how you strike the head, there is a high pitched "ringing" sound. I think it would be easily solved with putting some stick-on cork sheets in the inside of the drum's bowl. However, it doesn't always occur, and as my friend learns to play, he will likely learn to avoid getting that ringing tone.

These drums were donated to the school I teach at but they don't have the tuning socket or handle. I reached out to Remo and they said I need to special order through a local or online retail store. I found Guitar Center on their list of retailers. Here's a link for replacement parts on this drum: https://support.remo.com/hc/en-us/articles/208314843-Apex-Djembe-Replacement-Parts View the diagram for the tuning handle/socket: 29-2450-65-socket 29-2450-51-handle Are these single items available for purchase? Thanks! Shaney
We don't carry them normally, but you can give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can get you set up with a special order for them.
