A inexpensive and easy way to help your drum kit

These Remo Tone control Rings are great. I heard about them years ago, but my drum advisor/teacher did not recommend them. As I got more experienced, I found I got a lot of ring on my cheap drum set, especially from the steel snare. Initially, I bought the control rings just for the snare, but realized they'd probably benefit my toms, as well. I'm happy and totally satisfied! These tone control ring do exactly what they're advertised to do and the drums have that perfectly focused "thump". I tune the heads much tighter and get great clarity on the "ghost notes". Not expensive and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

annoying at times

I got these to dampen a Gretsch Cantalina Maple with Remo emperors. As soon as I put these on, I heard more of a thud. Although after a while, I noticed that the rings were choking the drums and plus the rings were giving off buzzing noises which made me have to use a million pieces of tape to make them to stop buzzing! These were ok.

Works fine, Just wish the ring would have been wider to get the desired sound I was looking for.

  • Great Product! You don't need these until you need them!

You may not think you need these, but eventually you will. 14" for the snare is a no brainer but having one for each of the toms always comes in handy for that one venue or recording session where normally the drum would sound fine. Great to have for those least expected scenarios.

  • Bring Back Noble & Cooley Zero Rings

The Remo Tone Control Rings are the closest I've found to the Noble & Cooley Rings (who I believe were the first ones to make this product) in terms of function. Unfortunately they are held in place in the package with a sticky material at one spot on the ring that is very difficult to remove. The packaging that Noble & Cooley used back then simply had a hook on the package display with a clear plastic overwrap that held everything in place. So it's really a shame because when try to clean the Remo rings you run the chance of ruining their appearance. Since they were copying Noble & Cooley's idea, why didn't they copy it completely? Or better yet, please bring back the Zero Rings from N&C who invented it and made it better than Remo or Evans.
