I read on one review that someone purchased this for their grandchildren but enjoyed the sound so much that they play the drums themselves. I believe that reviewer is tone deaf. These drums sound no different than pounding on two cardboard boxes turned upside down. However, my son (4 yr old) likes the small size and that they look like Uncle John's real bongos, but the sound sucks! If you are looking for bongo sound in a kid sized package, keep looking, these aren't them.

I bought these for my neice & nephew years ago and finally got around to buying some for my 2 year old daughter. It is a nice product and I do appreciate that they are built for kids - limited metal & sharp edges (short of clocking someone in the head w/ these, they are definitely kid safe), but these things sound just awful. Best tone you can get out of them is w/ lightweight mallets - which to me kinda defeats the purpose. I thought the ones I bought years ago sounded better, but admittedly - its been a while. I would still recommend these - my girl loves them and we have a lot of fun w/ them. Great addition to her growing collection of "play" instruments. You gotta get 'em interested early.

I bought the bongos for my two year old grandson and he enjoys them a bunch. They are built sturdy and are colorful. Had them shipped to Utah and they were there within three days and in great condition.
