Yamaha Folk Guitar Series | Introducing FG Red Label

Atmosfeel | Pickup and Preamp Demo

Yamaha FG Red Label Demo | FSX3

Description
Timeless Design With Modern Inspiration
Yamaha’s “Red Label” Folk Guitar series was first launched in 1966 as their first production of steel-string acoustics, which is considered by many as the iconic Yamaha acoustic line. Yamaha’s new Red Label series retains the vintage aesthetic of the original ’60s models—with a semi-gloss finish, open-gear tuners, the original V-shaped headstock with the time-honored "tuning fork" logo and, of course, the red label inside—but uses everything Yamaha has refined and developed over their more than half-century of making acoustic guitars.New Scalloped Bracing
Yamaha guitars are well known for their balanced sound. However, when defining the voice of Red Label, Yamaha wanted to add more low end for a fuller, warmer tone that would be ideal for solo singer-songwriters and modern folk music. To achieve this, new bracing designs were developed for the FG and FS Red Label guitars, which are optimized for each body shape and the natural characteristics of the tonewoods. The new scalloped bracing delivers plenty of volume and enhances low-frequency response without compromising durability.Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E)
As tonewoods age, they vibrate more freely and become more resonant, producing a louder, more powerful sound with enhanced high-frequency response and more sustain in the lows and low-mids. Yamaha’s Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) process achieves those same characteristics by using heat, humidity and pressure to simulate the effects of time on the soundboards. The A.R.E. process of accelerating the aging of the wood gives Red Label models the same rich, vintage-quality tone and response of a guitar you’ve been playing for years.Atmosfeel Three-Way Pickup and Preamp System
The Atmosfeel system uses an under-saddle piezo pickup in the bridge for low frequencies, an internal mic to capture lows and mids, and a proprietary flat contact sensor in the top for high frequencies. The combination results in warm and natural plugged-in tone with extremely simple controls. The Master Volume knob controls the overall volume, while the Mic Blend knob lets you blend the microphone sound into the premixed pickup sound. The Bass EQ knob is a peaking filter that raises the center frequency when boosting and lowers when attenuating. This allows you to remove boomy frequencies when you need to, but not add them when you want more low end.

My Favorite Acoustic Guitar I've ever played.

I owned a Martin guitar and two Taylor guitars before trying and buying this guitar! Hands down, my favorite acoustic guitar I've ever owned. The build quality and attention to detail from the factory are impeccable. I traded in a Taylor AD22e for this guitar, and I've never looked back! The bright, yet warm tone from the Spruce top (Torrified - A.R.E.) and mahogany back and sides warms my heart every time I strum this beautiful, yet unassuming-looking instrument. Did I mention that this is an ALL SOLID WOOD/Torrified top guitar? To get this type of quality, sound, and playability in a Martin or Taylor guitar, you would probably have to spend at least in the $2500 - $3000 price range. IMHO, Yamaha Acoustic Guitars are the best quality guitars on the planet.
Love these Red Labels!

Bought this guitar after having purchased the bigger "FGX3" dreadnought version. I was so pleased with the FGX3 that I had to try this FSX3, and I definitely am not disappointed. It's a great guitar! The satin finish feels like silk, and the quality build is obvious. More importantly, the sound will blow you away, plugged in or not! I did replace the Elixirs with D'sddario acoustics, because I think they make the sound even fuller.
Amazing instrument

First off, you can't go wrong with this guitar. The wood quality is amazing, the set up is perfect, the acoustic tone is great and it's very good plugged in; it even comes with a sound hole cover which is neat. The guitar center I got this at had a broken humidifier and most of the guitars were suffering from the usual symptoms of low humidity, but this one was perfect. The low humidity didn't affect it at all. Finding something that sounds good, feels good and holes up to different climates is very hard to find. This one does that. Also this is the tightest grained spruce I've ever seen.
Great sounding guitar.

I ordered this guitar through Musician's Friend. The first thing I did was have a Guitar Center tech lower the action. Then I put a set of light gauge Elixers on it. Now I couldn't ask for a sweeter sounding, easier playing guitar. Unplugged, it has great volume and beautiful tone. Playing through my Fishman Loudbox Artist amp I couldn't ask for a better acoustic sound. The built in Atmosfeel pickup system is amazing. And the quality build is great. Yamaha put their best into these guitars. More than worth the price. I've owned more expensive high end guitars and none of them match the sound and quality build of this FSX3.

I noticed that this is refurbished guitar but selling at the same price as brand new guitar. I was thinking that there would be some adjustment in price.
