So far, so good

I'm a keyboardist for a variety band and I also play 12 string electric on songs like Ticket To Ride, If I Needed Someone, Bus Stop etc. Been playing mostly an Eastwood Classic 12 or sometimes a Danelectro 12. I've planned all along to graduate to the Rick. Initially wanted the 660/12 because of the wider neck, but it was on back order, so I got the 360/12. Got it home, lowered the action and adjusted the intonation (I'm very particular about being in tune). Spent the rest of the night getting use to the narrow neck after playing the wide necked Eastwood for a year and a half. Got it to the gig and when I started playing on the Beatles songs, the lead guitar player said later on, that he almost freaked out. He referred to it as the "legit" sound for the Beatles songs. I think the high gains sound fine. I may or may not swap to the Toaster Tops in the future. A lot of people play these through Vox amps. I think they sound better through a Fender amp like my Deluxe Reverb. The Fender has that midrange quality, and the Rick already was plenty of jangle.

I would not buy this product again

Nice looking guitar.. Set up and neck not so good. May need to send it back. Should not have to take it out for set up and repairs.

#sweepstakes The Rickenbacker 360/12 is a fantastic-sounding guitar, especially when using Rick-o-Sound through two amplifiers (the stereo separation is great). I played one when I had a band from 1969-72, and always regretted selling it.

I was fortunate enough to land a 360 with help from a rep at Guitar Center. The minute you open the case you are in a kind of WOW moment. The color and finish just jump at you. This guitar came out of the box in perfect shape and ready to play after the initial tuning. You immediately notice the Rickenbacker sound and you are compelled to try more and different chords. The pickup and volume response are great and as usual adjusting the fifth tone knob to find its benefit takes some extra effort. Overall, the neck is very easy to play and after playing nothing but six strings throughout the years the adjustment to 12 comes fairly quick. I did a lot of homework to acquaint myself with all of the Rickenbacker 12 string idiosyncrasies that I heard about but once you sit down to play the guitar any doubts you may have had evaporate. Beautiful guitar and well worth the effort to find one.

  • love it.

That great Rickenbacker sound! That's why I bought one. However I never played the guitar. The neck on the guitar is noticeably narrower than my Taylor 12 string acoustic. To me it felt there was not enough room between strings. When played my finger nail was causing a buzzing sound or the back of my finger was muting the string. This occurred on certain chords. Fingerpicking was most noticeable. Just strumming the chords was hard to detect. I still have the guitar but don't play it as much as my Taylor. It's a great guitar but I don't think I would've bought it ,had I played it first.

I love my Ric but I did upgrade to the toaster pickups which gives the classic Ric sound. I also have the older plain tailpiece as I have heard the fancy ones can break. I added a 12 saddle bridge too. Biggest add was the pickups. Love my guitar. Gets the classic sound unlike my original 64 Dan Electro, which is cool but for all the Byrds, Petty and Beatles we play, it can't be beat.
