This is a well made unit. I use it for practice and, I take it with me to test (on battery mode) the electronics on acoustic guitars. The only issues that haven't been mentioned in other reviews is the bass can break up pretty easily on higher volume and the handle is so tight, it's difficult to get my fingers under it to carry. Sound is very good as well as the EQ, chorus and reverb/ambience all work better than expected.

The Roland AC-33 is light. loud enough, and portable. I can play this in small groups and then plug this into my Bose S1 pro for more volume, and then my L1 compact for even more volume.
Great amp, great savings

I love this amp! I saved some money by getting it basically new in an "open box." I use it with my electrified mbira and love that it has a looper so I can play alone, and two channels so I can play with a friend. It is lightweight and will be great to play at Farmer's Markets and festivals when there is no power supply. I got to where I could operate the looper function using my big toe, but purchasing the FS-6 footswitch made it a lot easier :) I have yet to operate it on batteries but have heard that the power leaves something to be desired, so am considering a portable power supply for when festivals and farmers markets really get under way.

Tell me more about the looper function
Looper Overview The AC-33’s Phrase Looper allows you to record and play back audio loops in real time. It gives acoustic guitarists the ability to build up layered parts for performance or songwriting without external devices. Maximum Loop Time: 40 seconds Overdubbing: Yes (you can add multiple layers) Input Sources: It captures everything going through the amp — guitar, mic, and any effects being used. Using the Looper Here’s how you typically engage the loop feature: Activate Looper Mode: Press the [LOOPER] button to enter standby mode. Start Recording: Press the [REC/PLAY/OVERDUB] pedal (sold separately or assignable to footswitch) to begin. Stop Recording and Loop: Press the same pedal again to finish recording. The loop will immediately start playing back. Overdub (Layering): Press the pedal again during playback to begin overdubbing. Press again to return to playback mode. Clear Loop: Press and hold the pedal for 2 seconds to erase the loop. Note: Without a footswitch, these functions are accessed using the onboard controls, but it's less hands-free. Loop Volume and Blend The looper output is blended with your live playing, and you can adjust the overall amp volume to balance it. However, there's no dedicated loop volume control — your best bet for managing levels is via your guitar/mic input gain and EQ settings.submitted3 years ago
