This is one of my favorite Digital Pianos. Roland has caught up and surpassed Yamaha when it comes to feel, sound and quality. The action of this GP 3 is the same as the RD88 but it's still fantastic and the sound quality is tops! The functionality, Bluetooth and speakers are excellent! The furniture aspect to this piano is also nice. The legs are sturdy and the black finish is beautiful. Keep in mind that scratches can happen easily but after one year of student performances, it still looks great.

Can you still use the keyboard if it's not attached to the legs and the pedal appendage? For example, if I have a table where I could just set the keyboard portion of the equipment to play it, would I be able to do so without all the appendages attached?
Yes, you can still use the Roland GP-3 88-Key Digital Grand Piano without attaching the legs and pedal unit — with a few important caveats: What works: The keyboard portion of the GP-3 is self-contained in terms of sound engine and speakers, so if you place it on a sturdy table, you can turn it on and play it. You can use headphones plugged directly into the keyboard for private playing. What doesn’t work (or becomes limited): The pedal unit is built into the lower frame, so without connecting it, you won’t have sustain or soft pedal functionality. The power supply and connections are routed through the base. Depending on the design, you may not be able to power it on or use outputs unless the base and pedals are connected. (Roland has done this on some models — they hide critical connections in the stand.). Important: The Roland GP-3 is designed as a single, integrated unit, not as a detachable stage piano. So depending on the internal wiring, removing it from the base might mean losing access to power or ports. Before removing the base, check the back of the keyboard and see if it has: A standalone power input. Headphone jack or main audio outs. Pedal jacks (if you wanted to plug in a separate sustain pedal). f those ports are on the body itself, you're good to go for tabletop use (minus built-in pedals). If they’re on the stand, then unfortunately, it’s not usable that way.submitted10 months ago
