Roland JC-40 JAZZ CHORUS guitar amplifier

Description
The Roland JC-40 Jazz Chorus combo amplifier is a 40-watt, 2x10" stereo combo delivers Roland's renowned "JC clean" tone and signature Dimensional Space Chorus effect in a scaled-down design ideal for gigging and rehearsing. Like the legendary JC-120, the JC-40 serves up punchy, spacious sound through two independent power amps and custom speakers. Its durable, road-tested build ensures years of reliability on stage and in the studio.
Benchmark Clean Tone and Immersive Chorus
For 40 years, the JC-120 has been revered for its pristine clean tone and huge stereo chorus. The JC-40 carries on this tradition, providing an authentic JC experience in a more compact, portable format. Two 10" speakers and independent power amps generate wide, crisp sound that cuts through the mix. The Dimensional Space Chorus effect fills the room with lush, shimmering stereo sound. Select either fixed or manual mode for a range of rich, nuanced textures.
Refreshed Onboard Effects and Stereo Connectivity
The JC-40's effects have been updated for enhanced tone and flexibility. In addition to the famous chorus, you'll find renewed vibrato and reverb with stereo operation for immersive performance. Distortion is also on hand, refashioned for smooth, full-bodied overdrive that complements any genre. The JC-40 supports stereo effects devices through its front-panel input, allowing you to achieve wide, dramatic sound without carrying two separate amps. Its neutral tone also makes a perfect platform for guitar synths, amp modelers and multi-effects.
Ideal for Pedal Users and Easy Connectivity
If you craft your sound with stompboxes, there's no better clean canvas than a JC amp. The JC-40's rich, balanced tone ensures you'll hear your pedals' uncolored output. The rear panel offers an effects loop, line out, and headphone jack for quiet practice or recording. You can also connect optional footswitches to toggle the JC-40's onboard chorus, reverb and distortion.
Classic Style, Modern Refinements
The JC-40's black cabinet and silver mesh grille pay homage to the iconic JC aesthetic. However, under the hood you'll find contemporary upgrades like a lightweight cabinet, a convenient carrying handle and durable metal jacks. Whether on stage, in the studio or at home, the JC-40 delivers the sound and style of a legend in a format tailored to today's guitarist.

Roland Jazz Chorus 40
Unbelievable Sound, CLEAN TO DIE FOR, All controls work great, a perfect package, blows the 120 out of the water.Perfect for any style, great for acoustic electrics too, Almost too good to be true !!! NO COMPLAINTS. IMOP the best solid state amp ever made by ANY company !! Loves pedals. Very portable and so good looking.Got a great coupon deal. Best amp purchase I have ever made ,including high -end tube amps, which I also love and still have;but this little tone beast is incredible !! I could go on forever praising this JC-40 ,but need to get back to playing Jazz on it.My Princeton Reverb 1 x 12 , Deluxe Reverb 65, and Blues Jr III NOS are jealous and have not been turned on in a week ,since I bought this one. Guitar Center had it shipped in and it arrived in 3 days in perfect condition. Check it out and be marveled.

Small stage yes, big stage no!
I tested this amplifier at a local music store. All was well until I tried to bring it up to stage volume. The break up point was way too soon. I was surprised because the JC series is well known for its clean sound. I must say I was rather disappointed. At lower volumes it had classic sound and I loved it. Again once I tried to bring it to stage volume it lost everything. I went to the demo with the intention of ordering one.. All in all it depends on your application. Very small venues and home studio work it is great. On the big stage don't even think about it.

White Noise Machine

The white noise jumped out at me as soon as I powered it up. Was hoping to avoid the noise at low volume but it's present regardless of how loud you play, very pronounced and distracting. Very present in recording, even while playing. Strummed chords fade into noise. Reminds me of a NIN album from the nineties. It literally sounds like a sleep machine, doesn't sound at all like cycle hum. Might not be a problem in a live setting or with enough background noise covering up the sound of the amplifier speakers bleeding noise.
Yes i would buy again

This is the cleanest sounding amp i have ever used. Amp is super heavy duty built. Chorus is Really nice. Handles all my pedals great. I have not used in stereo yet. Ill probably purchase a Pedal with stereo connect next. Played acoustic, electric so far. Would like to try keyboard. Thank you

After going through 4 different amps I did not like, I broke down and spent the extra money on this amp. Great sound on the Clean, reverb and great stereo chorus. No fussing with mods and different settings. I may purchase some kind of processor but I am a basic player and this does the trick.
Great Jazz Amp

Previously had a Fender Deville which was good but constantly needed maintenance on valves and was too punchy for my small studio. The JC 40 gives clean Jazzy sound with versatility to change up for some modest distortion. The clean sound and versatility make this a great home studio amp.
Perfect little amp.

Great little stereo amp that is a perfect pedal platform. Superb mid range punch, beautiful cleans, and handles overdrives well. I also own it's big brother (The 120), so comparatively it obviously has its limitations in terms of headroom and power. Still, it's excellent for rehearsal and small venues. You'll be hard-pressed finding a stereo amp with this value… excellent for running your stereo time -based effects.
All I can say is "WOW"!!

Had the JC-40 for about a month now, and I am amazed ever time I plug into it. A gorgeous tone paired with my Fender American Pro Tele. This amp is loud. I do not play out, so I keep the keep the volume between 2-3 when playing in my living room, so as not to disrupt the rest of the household. But, I believe there is plenty of volume on tap to play small to mid size venues. The amp is a little bright, so unless you have a very dark sounding guitar, you won't need the bright switch. I tend to roll the treble off to about 2-3, and push the mids to about 6, and bass around 5 when playing my Tele through it. The tone is pristine and notes are articulate. I tend to play clean, so I haven't tried any dirt pedals with it. I do run the built in distortion between 2-3 sometimes for that "tube-like" edge-of-breakup tone. I find this to be very usable at this setting. As far as the built in effects, the reverb is lush, and the chorus is just stunning. The fixed chorus mode is beautiful on its own, but there is a wide range of adjustability in the manual mode, from very subtle to very watery. I have a Boss CE2W chorus pedal that I love, but I don't think the JC-40 can be beat for its chorus tones, falling on the heels of the JC-120, which started it all. I have never been much of a fan of vibrato, but I am finding that the amp's built in vibrato is one of my favorite effects. I set the speed between 1-2, and the depth at 4. Amazing! The amp does take all of my other modulation and time-based pedals just great, having run them into the front of the amp and in the effects loop. Overall, I'd say it is a great pedal platform. But, often I just plug my Tele straight into the amp and the built in effects are all I need. Very happy with this purchase, and would highly recommend!
