Roland Boutique JU-06A

Roland

collapse expand iconDescription

The Roland JU-06A boutique synthesizer combines the iconic sounds of the JUNO-60 and JUNO-106 vintage synths with contemporary features suited for today's musicians and producers. This innovative instrument provides musicians with a portable yet powerful tool for crafting bold sonic textures on stage and in the studio.

Authentic JUNO Tones and Controls

The JU-06A faithfully recreates the legendary sounds of the JUNO-60 and JUNO-106, with controls that mirror the layout and functionality of the original synths. Musicians can instantly switch between the two vintage JUNO modes to access the pulse-width modulation of the JUNO-60 or the continuous high-pass filter of the JUNO-106. 17 hands-on sliders provide intuitive control over parameters like envelope amount, LFO speed, high-pass filter cutoff and chorus level. This tactile control combined with impeccably modeled analog circuitry results in a rich, nuanced sound that is indistinguishable from the original JUNOs.

Advanced Sequencing and Connectivity

While the JU-06A authentically captures the analog warmth of vintage JUNO synths, it also provides modern features for sound design and music production. An onboard 16-step sequencer allows musicians to create polyphonic sequences with chord memory, resulting in impressively complex phrases. The JU-06A also offers USB audio/MIDI connectivity and full-sized MIDI ports for integration into any studio or live setup. An external clock input enables synchronization with Eurorack modular systems and other analog gear. These contemporary capabilities expand the creative potential of the classic JUNO sound.

Portable and Versatile

Measuring only 13.5" x 8.4" x 2.4", the Roland JU-06A is a highly portable synthesizer that provides an authentic analog experience anywhere. It can run on 4 AA batteries for over five hours of operation, allowing for spontaneous jam sessions and live performances without power cables. A built-in speaker and headphone output provide monitoring options with or without an amplifier. For more permanent setups, the optional K-25m keyboard dock (sold separately) transforms the JU-06A into a self-contained performance instrument. With its compact size, battery power and connectivity options, the JU-06A is an incredibly versatile synthesizer for studio and stage.

Premium Components and Construction

While portable and affordable, the Roland JU-06A is a premium instrument featuring high-quality components and construction. Its metal panels and sliders feel substantial and durable, built to withstand the demands of musical performance and production. Premium circuitry and digital modeling result in warm analog tones that remain clear and articulate even with extreme synth settings. Designed and manufactured in Japan, the JU-06A reflects Roland's commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

I use this for my song writing and home studio. Gives you inspiration from the many textures of sound you get out of it. I also bought the other Roland boutiques to add to my creative music and ambient recordings. I would definitely recommend this product along with the other many other Roland products.

  • Good enough, but not 1:1 with the original

I have an original Juno 60, it's a centerpiece of our band's sound. But as much as we love it, it's a museum piece now. It's too fragile to lug around, and has been temperamental in a live setting, so we decided to retire it from live duty (though we still use it in the studio). Enter the JU-06A. This module was recommended by a friend, and the reviews are generally good, so we decided to give it a try. My verdict is it's good enough for the job, but it's not 1:1 with the original. Case in point is bank 5, patch 4. On the original, 54 is a staple of our band's sound: buzzy, thick and layered, and with the right settings on the LFO trigger, it adds a dose of swirling, chaotic energy to any transition. Just a classic Juno sound. Unfortunately, 54 on the JU-06A just doesn't capture the magic of the original. It's missing the warmth and depth to my ear. That's not to say that the JU-06A doesn't have some great sounds. It does. We are happy using it in our live setup in place of the retired Juno 60. But to be clear, it's not a 1:1 recreation of the original.

Nails all the 80's era sounds I was looking for! The keyboard is worth getting as well for portability. I mistakenly got the Teenage Engineering OP-1 but I couldn't get the 80's synth sounds I wanted. Highly recommend the Roland Ju-06A!

Love the voicing chips! Sounds really heavy and clear. The midi set up was already done. Just plugged it in and got down to it. The button/knob work flow is excellent. Hands down, the best roland boutique yet.

Hello, I'll be visiting NY in September and I'd like to buy both the the JU-06A and the K-25M keyboard unit from Roland. I'm thinking on buying it online and select pick-up location in Manhattan. Would this be possible? How long would it take for my order to be available at the pick-up point from the moment of my purchase (days/weeks)? Most importantly, are both this products on stock?

Hopefully you can help me, best regards!
