A nice choice for gigs

Compared to the Yamaha MX series keyboards, the Juno D sounds a bit warmer and fuller. The keys have better touch. I REALLY like the 8 sample pads. You can pre-record samples, save them on your computer to a USB memory stick, then plug it into the Juno and play the sounds on the pads. It could be an entire long introduction to a song, a tricky riff, or just a simple short sound. This can save you from dragging out more than one keyboard to a gig, or having a second keyboard player. You can also import samples and use that sample as the basis of an entire preset (across all 61 keys). This keyboard is only 12.8 pounds. You can construct sounds for just about any pop song. The trick is to layer two sounds and add effects as needed. The only shortfall, as with ANY keyboard in this price range that is not a digital piano, is the piano sounds. Compared to, for example, my Yamaha P-125, the piano sounds are inferior. If I had to play a SERIOUS piano accompaniment (example: Billy Joel 'New York State of Mind'), I would want to do so on a digital piano, and with weighted keys. But, for simpler piano songs (example: Bowie 'Modern Love') this keyboard will work just fine. I wish this keyboard had weighted keys, but I guess that adds a lot of weight to the keyboard. This keyboard was designed with portability in mind.

Does this have split keyboard capability
The Roland JUNO-D6 does not have full split keyboard capability in the traditional workstation sense, but it does allow a basic split mode. Here’s what it can do: It supports a basic keyboard split. Split Mode Functionality: You can assign one sound to the lower part of the keyboard and another to the upper (e.g., bass on the left, piano or strings on the right). This is part of the “Performance Mode”, which allows layered or split setups using multiple tones.submitted7 months ago
