The perfect set of strings for the 4 string bass player for this reason: they are non-standard gauges. A little lighter on the G string and a little heavier on the E string and a balanced A and D string configuration. Imagine your string gauges acting as a primary tone control before you even make any adjustments using p/u controls or EQ on the amp. They also aid in the execution of 2 handed tapping for those of us who partake in that style. The difference in gauges is noticeable to the ears but not so drastic as to throw off your playing from what you might be used to. No cons here. I would recommend ALL bass players try a set at least once and judge for yourself.

I love the Billy Sheehan Rotosound bass strings. I've tried just about every bass string on the market and this one seems to always have that bright midrange tone that I'm looking for. And these strings are very durable and don't lose their tone. The most recent pair I have on one of my basses now has been on for almost two months now and they still sound great after playing it everyday. I would highly recommend trying these strings out if you enjoy that bright midrange tone like I do.

  • Great Roto Sound bass strings. Bill Sheehan gauge rocks.

Billy Sheehan endorsed custom gauge string and I'm sold on them after a few times. Will continue to use them, unfortunate Guitar center in my neighborhood doesn't carry them in stock anymore. More Corporate bad decisions again.

I've been a huge fan of Billy Sheehan's playing style and tone for many years. I either own or have owned many of the products that Billy has endorsed and like all of those products, these string are high quality and embody a tone that is unmistakably Billy Sheehan. They produce a nice clear bottom-end as well as a bright, punchy top-end. If I was to have to point to one minor flaw it would be that the strings felt rough to me in comparison to other strings I've used (hence only a 4 star rating). I would also have to mention that, because of the unusual string gauges, the string may feel awkward at first. That said, these strings are great step toward capturing that Billy Sheehan signature tone.

Unbelievable tone. Still the best tone I ever heard from bass strings. Once you put them on and start playing, they put you in that "zone". Fellow bassists know what I'm talking about. The zone where you think you can touch the sky. Been using Rotosounds for decades and they are still the best for that raw incredible complex tone.
