Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Studio-8 Bass Satin Honey

I can't believe I didn't buy an 8 string sooner. Amazing tone and allows me to create a fuller sound. This will be my main bass from now on.

i like the way this sits worn with a low strap, almost a jaguar feel to it. the hardware is a good setup, sounds good on my Acoustic B15 amp. addicting to play, being a guitar player, it's like you have a bass backup constantly, or the flipside playing bass its kind of like you're leading for rhythm guitar

The write-up just ahead of mine was obviously for an 5-string bass. This bass is definitely an 8-string. I saw it on the store floor recently and just had to check it out. when I picked it up and began to notice the craftmanship and the features, it started calling to me - by name! The neck-through-body construction and finish are impeccable. It has two active EMG pickups that give this baby a very wide tonal and voice range. The neck isn't very wide, so there is not a lot of excessive space between the string sets. I like the strings close together anyway, so that made it easier to play. The action is low like I prefer it. The wood - mahogany and maple - is beautifully finished. Schecter outdid themselves with this one as far as I'm concerned. I now have five bass guitars, all different. This 8-string rounds the collection perfectly and is just so darn pretty! It sounds even better than it looks. Another reviewer was spot on - pictures don't do it justice. Trimmed with gold colored hardware, it ranks right up there with high-precision pro-grade instruments. The price was very good and affordable, too. I got a lot of bang for my buck.

This is the first instrument that I have bought brand new and I could not be happier with it. My dudes (if you will) really dig the "full sound" that it produces. The tone is better than great and the EMG 3-band EQ delivers a broad range of frequency control. With the 3-bands you can really cut out the bass (make it sound really guitar like), really cut the treble out (make it sound really deep), or keep it balanced (even octave awesomeness). Schecter also did a fantastic job setting it up. Intonation is spot on. The wood is beautiful and crafted without flaw (smooth with no sharp edges). The EMG electronics are a perfect match for all 8 strings. The play-ability is very good but you should note that an 8-string can take some getting used to. The smell is enticing and inviting. With everything it has going for it, motivation for creating tasteful licks is surely not lacking. Analog effect pedals, I have a lot and this octave bass works with them all very well, excluding the octave pedals of course. Works especially well with the envelope filters (my favorite), compressors, and overdrives. Final thoughts... I have been looking into getting an 8-string bass for more than two years and this is the one I decided to purchase. After reading lots of reviews and listing to lots of demos over-viewing multiple models, I really could not be happier with my choice. I also did get the Schecter bass case for the stiletto basses (SGR-5SB) and it fits just as it should.

I wanted a 5-string bass with a reasonably narrow neck and a tight, good sounding B string. The Studio 5 has all that, and more. All the hardware is top drawer. The EMG-HZ pickups sound great with no B-string volume drop off (due to 35" scale?). The active pick-up controls turn smothly with no noise and allow the player to dial in his/her desired sound, whatever that may be. The neck feels good and plays easily. The truss rod is easily adjusted, as is the bridge for height and intonation (VERY solid bridge). The action can be set pretty low without fret buzz. And, it's a very handsome bass. You can buy more expensive basses, but none significantly better, in my opinion anyway, regardless of where they are made.

when i saw the features that came with this price,my first thought was whats wrong with this bass? but the craftsmanship is spectacular. the emg active 3-band eq gives you more tonal options than you'll ever need (unlike those that come on other cheap basses), the wood working is flawless, and this bass is even sexier in person than a picture could ever show. only problem is not made in the u.s.
