TUTORIAL: e 604 Drum Dynamic Microphone | Sennheiser

Sennheiser - The Future of Audio

Description
The Sennheiser e 604 Dynamic Cardioid Instrument Microphone is optimized for drum sets, percussion and other high-volume applications. The e 604 can handle sound pressure levels exceeding 160dB with clarity and accuracy. Its cardioid polar pattern rejects unwanted noise and provides isolation. An integrated, pivoting mount attaches directly to mic stands or drum rims for efficient setup.
Withstands Extreme Volumes Without Distortion
The e 604's lightweight voice coil and reinforced fiberglass body are built to withstand the physical demands of close-miking drums and percussion. Its wide dynamic range and ability to handle high SPLs with minimal distortion result in a balanced, transparent signal comparable to high-end studio condenser microphones.
Attach and Position With Ease
An included drum rim clip and mic stand mount make placing and securing the e 604 simple. The pivoting mount offers flexibility in mic placement, allowing optimal positioning in relation to the sound source. Rugged and roadworthy, the e 604 delivers professional results gig after gig.
isolate the Sound You Want
With a tight cardioid pickup pattern, the e 604 rejects off-axis noise and ambient room sounds. Focus the mic on a single drum, the hi-hat or an entire drum set—the e 604's directional characteristics help capture the intended sound while minimizing bleed from other sources.
Roadworthy and Reliable
As a dynamic microphone, the e 604 requires no phantom power and has no internal components that could be damaged in high-moisture environments. Its rugged build quality has been engineered to withstand the rigors of live performance and touring. The e 604 delivers professional results gig after gig, providing years of faithful service.

I'm only buying this because, after many years of hard use, one of the four I own gave out. These are great mics for my drums and mount on the rim easily for fast setup.
I would purchase this mic again

i needed a smaller size mic for amplifying my snare drum. I kept hitting the other mic I had and it was constantly in the way of my playing. This mic is much smaller and doesn't get in the way of playing.
It was not as advertised.

I needed a new microphone for my wind instruments. I decided to give it a try and paid an extra $20 to get it here the next day. Not only did it take 4 days to get to me it did not fit my oboe, clarinet, or saxophone with out modifications. Musicians friend should try applications before they list them on the site. Musicians Friend did honor the return price and shipping costs so they did square it with me. I then bought a Shure PGA98H from them and I am happy with it.

My name is Mark. I bought a set of these mics and used them for recording drums. This is one of the best drum mics I have heard and my top three favorite drum mics, sounds great without an eq. Very open and spacous, mids are scooped. great for all styles of drums.
