Seymour Duncan

collapse expand iconDescription

Created for total sonic annihilation, the Nazgûl starts where most passive high-output pickups stop. The large ceramic magnet serves up aggressive tones for brutal, drop tuned, chest-punching riffs, while the midrange is specifically voiced to bring out the definition from the low strings. Fear not, though, for all of the gain and ruthless attack you're going to use, the notes will still remain fluid and articulate.

The Nazgûl is a very high-output bridge pickup with more of everything: output, bass, mids and highs. It was built to specifically bring out the tightness and articulation of the low strings. Combined with the Sentient in the neck, you can transfer the weakest of guitars into a weapon of mass destruction.

I swapped out the EMG's that came stock in my C1 Platinum for these and it's a great set. They kept everything I liked about the sound I got from the EMG's and added so much more to it. The Nazgul is tight and punches thru a mix like a beast. The Sentient doesn't get used as much since I primarily use the bridge pickup in all my guitars, but it complements the Nazgul nicely. Good for leads and clean tones. Nazgul is a bit bright on cleans for my taste but I never use the bridge alone for cleans anyway. It does sound good combined with the Sentient for cleans tho. Very happy with these, glad I made the switch.

Would these be good for drop E on seven strings? I'm going for a Humanity's Last Breath/Lorna Shore type of sound and I'm stuck between the Nazgûl or the Black Winters, something with detail and filth since I'm in such a low tuning!
