This pickup really does have that open, airy vintage Tele sound. It's thick in just the right places. Don't compare it to the Fender noiseless because it's a level above that for vintage tone.

I wired the vintage stack into a cheap import body, and after adding a Fender Maple/Maple neck and I was very impressed. I like the black yarn feature because I like the vintage look. The hum cancelling on this pivkup works great, it's very quiet. The output on my multimeter was about 9.4K and it had a great vintage Telecaster tone, but with sightly more output. This pickup just surpassed the SD Five Two as my favorite for an Eb guitar for crunchy modern country tones. I have used a Five Two for a few years and I have also had this Vintage Stack for a few years but I have never installed it until now. I regret that decision. It's very sweet, but can also get that fat ballsy sound we all desire from a single coil without losing the articulation you come to expect. You cannot go wrong with this little gem. It's a winner in my book.

I was looking for a back tele pickup that had the tele twang but a bit fuller tone and absolutely noiseless for studio applications. I picked up the Vintage Stack and it nailed the sound I was looking for. Clean or distorted, if you leave the tone all the way up it sounds like a vintage tele. If you roll back the tone just a bit you start getting into Les Paul territory. I have a Road Worn Players Tele with the Brent Mason mod and I use that guitar no matter what kind of session im in. Sometimes i have to pull out a strat or les paul but for the most part it covers every sound I need. With this pickup you can play anything from Buck Owens to Aerosmith. GREAT BUY FOR ANY TONE HOG!!
