Shure PGA48 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone

Also available in these bundles

Description
The Shure PGA48 vocal microphone is a high-performance, cardioid dynamic mic designed for lead and backing vocals. Its cardioid polar pattern picks up sound directly in front of the mic while reducing feedback and ambient noise from the sides and rear. As a dynamic mic, the PGA48 generates its own signal without requiring phantom power and can handle sound pressure levels up to 148dB without distortion. With a frequency response tailored for vocal reproduction from 70Hz to 16kHz, the PGA48 delivers a full, articulate sound ready to cut through any mix.
Isolate the Main Sound Source
The PGA48's cardioid polar pattern focuses on the vocalist in front of the mic, minimizing bleed from other sound sources on stage. Its directional nature also reduces feedback, allowing for higher volume levels before feedback occurs. For vocalists performing together, the PGA48's isolation helps capture each voice clearly without interference from other mics.
Withstand High Sound Levels
As a dynamic mic, the PGA48 generates its own signal without requiring phantom power. Its dynamic transducer can handle up to 148dB SPL without distorting, making it ideal for loud vocal styles and close-miking techniques where high sound levels are unavoidable. For vocalists seeking a mic that can keep up with their volume and power, the PGA48 is up to the task.
Capture the Essence of the Human Voice
With a frequency range of 70Hz to 16kHz, the PGA48 is tailored to pick up the fundamental tones that shape vocal character. Its low end provides warmth and body, while an upper midrange presence lift ensures articulation and clarity. The result is a natural vocal sound ready to sit at the forefront of any mix.
Built for the Road
The PGA48 features a durable metal chassis and grille that withstand the rigors of touring. Each mic includes accessories for live and studio use like a mic clip, carrying pouch and threaded adapter for any standard mic stand. With premium components and a rugged build, the PGA48 serves vocalists well for countless live shows and recording sessions to come.

Good quality microphone
I am an intermediate metal vocalist and this microphone works great for this. It sounds clear, its cheap, and its overall a good microphone. I have dropped it before, and the only damage was a dent on the grille, so its also a durable microphone.

Time will tell
I'm an instrumentalist, and needed a basic mic with an on/off switch for announcing between songs. This is just what I needed, and the price is reasonable. The sound is okay, but the switch feels cheap. I hope I am wrong, and that the switch will hold up for a long time. I guess time will tell!
