The UNIDYNE III Model 545SD is a dual-impedance, unidirectional, dynamic microphone. Shipped connected for low-impedance operation, the mic features a silent magnetic reed on/off switch. The UNIDYNE III is a favorite for instrument pickup and recording, and can be used on lecterns for public address systems such as those used in political conventions and legislatures, convention halls, hotels, public auditoriums, stadiums, schools, and churches. (545SD-LC Cable not included).

  • Impedance: Dual. Microphone rating impedance is 150 ohms (250 ohms actual) for connection to microphone inputs rated at 19 to 300 ohms and "High" for connection to high-impedance microphone inputs. Wired for low impedance as supplied.

  • Polarity: Positive pressure on diaphragm produces positive voltage on pin 2 (with respect to pin 3).
  • Switch: Built-in magnetic reed on/off switch with lockplate.
  • Cartridge Shock Mount: Internal rubber vibration-isolator
  • Swivel Adapter: Positive action, adjustable through 90 degrees from vertical to horizontal, permits easy removal for handheld use, suitable for mounting on stand with 5/8"- 27 thread
  • Case: Chrome-plated die casting with ARMO-DUR grille and stainless steel screen

    I mic my EVH LBX 2 1x12 with this in my garage studio. I had a 58 and a 87 on it before I changed to the UNIDYNE III 545SD-LC. Huge difference. I love the cab miced now. I use a looper pedal that I plug the mic into. the off switch is nice to balance the level between my Pa and amp once I record a loop. That way I can change sounds on my amp with the loop still running thru the pa unchanged.

    The versatility of this mic is astounding. I was torn between this and an SM57 for use as a harmonica mic. With a 57, I would need an impedance transformer, since I'm going straight into a guitar amp. The pro sound tech at Guitar Center suggested this one, because he said the high end resnponce was better. The fact that it switches to high impedance was just a bonus. I'm blown away. Not only is the sound great, but depending on distance, gain, and how the mic is handled, there's a whole range of tones this mic is capable of. By the way, switching the mic from low to high impedance was VERY simple, and only took about a minute, beginning to end, thanks to the clear instructions that came with it.

    I am using this for harmonica and it has great tone. This is my first mic so I am no expert but I love it and am not disappointed.

    This is my first mic for harmonica but I have to say that it does crunch up great when cupped. I am starting to get the hang of it and there are a lot of different tones you can get by the different ways of cupping this mic. I am using it thru a vox ac4tv amp and it sounds good to my ears.I swapped in an amperex 12au7 in the amp and feedback is no problem.
