Replaced the snare and two toms with these 12" pads on my Alesis Nitro Mesh so I could have larger pads. They work flawless with the Alesis and are equivalent or better quality. I just put them in snare stands and they work great. Plugged them in and that was all. Hits have all been accurate so far. Good quality, at least for an amateur. Someone at a higher skill level probably would need and want higher quality but I think they're well worth it at this price point.

Please confirm: the SD12 can replace the 10" tom in the kit SD1250. If confirmed, is there an adapter for mounting the SD12 on the L-rod? Thank you!
The Simmons SD12 drum pad is designed to be mounted on a snare stand and does not include built-in L-rod mounting hardware. Therefore, directly mounting it onto the L-rod system of the SD1250 kit isn't straightforward. However, there are potential solutions to adapt the SD12 for rack mounting: Universal Multi-Clamps: Some universal multi-clamps are designed to accommodate various pad types and can be attached to standard drum racks. These clamps might allow you to secure the SD12 pad to your existing L-rod setup. Custom Mounting Solutions: Drummers have sometimes employed custom brackets or modified existing hardware to fit pads like the SD12 onto their racks. This approach requires some DIY effort and careful consideration to ensure stability and avoid damaging the pad. Third-Party Adapters: Certain third-party manufacturers produce adapters that can convert snare stand mounts to rack mounts. For example, the Pearl CPR1278 Pipe to L-Rod Conversion Adapter allows for such conversions and might be compatible with the SD12 pad.submitted4 months ago

Does it have the cat5e connection? If not, you recommend where I can find one? This original sd1250 snare is cat5.
The Simmons 12" Drum Pad (often sold as an expansion pad or tom pad for Simmons kits like the SD1250 or SD1200) typically does not have a CAT5e (Ethernet-style) connection. Instead, it uses a standard 1/4" TRS cable for triggering. If you need a replacement or additional snare pad that connects via CAT5e, you must find a Simmons SD1250 snare (or potentially an SD1200 snare.submitted4 months ago

Does it work with an older Roland TD-5 sound module?
Yes, a Simmons 12" drum pad (depending on the specific model) can work with a Roland TD-5 sound module, but with some limitations and setup considerations: Key Compatibility Factors: Trigger Type: The TD-5 is an older module, designed primarily for single-zone piezo or switch-type triggers. Many modern Simmons pads (like the Simmons SD series) are dual-zone (head and rim) and may use piezo + switch or dual-piezo configurations. The TD-5 does not support dual-piezo triggers, so if the Simmons pad uses dual-piezo, only the head trigger will likely function. You’ll likely need to adjust the trigger settings on the TD-5 for sensitivity, threshold, and crosstalk to get usable results. The Simmons pad may be more sensitive than the TD-5 expects. The TD-5 lacks support for features like positional sensing, rim shots, or chokes, which modern pads might offer. Yes, it will likely trigger basic sounds (like snare hits) on the TD-5. Expect only single-zone functionality. You may need to tweak settings for optimal response.submitted5 months ago
