Sire V8-5 5-String Electric Bass Tobacco Sunburst

Bought this 5 string V8 in Tobacco Sunburst a few months ago and I absolutely love it! Plays like butter and has great tone. One of my bands does some songs in standard tuning and some in half step down so I bring two basses. This allowed me to really do a good A/B comparison in a live setting. In passive mode it compares very well to my 2019 MIM Geddy Lee bass. I think the Fender has slightly more volume and bite, but the pickups are raised higher on that one. I bet it would be almost the same if I raise the neck pickup a little. I use active mode when A/B-ing with my Ibanez SR-885 w/active EMG's. It sounds just as good as that if not better because of the parametric mids. Very versatile instrument. That mid knob is great for a quick mid song adjustment if you're not cutting through the mix. Also this think looks a lot prettier in person. Even though I wanted something more modern looking, this has all the functions and playbility I need. And the looks really grow on you. Great craftsmanship. Fret edges are super smooth, neck feels great. It just feels really easy to play. It does have some weight to it so get a wide padded strap. I highly recommend this instrument. Well worth the price.
