Slate Digital VMS ML-1 Large-Diaphragm Modeling Microphone Matte Black

Description
Slate Digital's VMS ML-1 large diaphragm modeling microphone offers unprecedented flexibility for studio and live sound. This innovative mic combines a transparent, full-range condenser capsule with powerful modeling software that provides emulations of prized vintage and modern microphones. The ML-1's linear frequency response and ultralow noise floor capture audio with stunning clarity, serving as an ideal blank canvas for the modeling software's microphone emulations.
Groundbreaking Software Provides a Virtual Mic Locker
At the heart of the VMS ML-1 system is Slate Digital's industry-leading modeling software. This powerful software unlocks emulations of coveted classics like the Neumann U 47 and M 49 as well as modern microphones from brands like Slate Digital. With the turn of a dial, you can switch the ML-1 between a vintage tube mic, a modern condenser or a dynamic mic. The software provides tonal options that would otherwise require an investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Premium Components Ensure Superior Performance
Slate Digital spared no expense in designing the ML-1. Its gold-sputtered capsule is housed in a sturdy metal chassis with an internal shock mount to prevent unwanted vibration. Electronics are also high-end, with a state-of-the-art FET preamp and transformerless circuit path for maximum transparency. The result is a microphone that captures audio with stunning realism and detail across all frequency ranges.
Rugged and Road-Ready
While designed primarily for studio use, the ML-1 is also well-suited for live sound and field recording applications. Its shock-resistant chassis and metal exterior are built to withstand the rigors of transport and live performance. The included accessories like a protective case, mic clip and cable also make the ML-1 a complete and road-ready recording solution.
Flexibility for Any Application
With its transparent sound and modeling capabilities, the VMS ML-1 is an ideal choice for recording virtually any audio source. Vocals, acoustic instruments, drums and amplifiers are all captured faithfully. The ML-1's polar patterns can also be switched between cardioid, omni and figure-8, providing even more tonal options. For studio or live use, the VMS ML-1 is a microphone that can do it all.

We bought 2 of the Slate ML-1 mics and they have background noise caused from humidity and they don't work in Hawaii!! I have been passed around Guitar center and Slate for 2 years trying to resolve this rip off product!! We trusted they would work, but they didn't and now Slate wants them sent back before sending replacements!! Hey Slate, we trusted you and your poor product and deserve replacement for what we ALREADY PAID FOR!!

The Microphone has what I think is the best digital sound that a Microphone can achieve. More expensive mics are great with analogue flavors and feelings that's unique to each Microphone. Rather than having the feeling of something digital trying to be analogue, this microphone captures the vibe and feeling of all the microphones it tries to recreate. The sounds and tones are great and It can cut through a dense and heavy mix unlike many other microphones in its price range. I would only be weary that you never should buy this microphone used. Even brand new issues of the slate ml1 sometimes have a very loud breathing noise that bakes into every recording. Also the all access pass DOES NOT include mic modeling software. So never buy this used or open box would be my advice and if you get a bad one return it immediately and get a good one worth keeping.

This mic is the most gimmicky thing out there. Slate should be ashamed of themselves for this joke of a microphone. Don't buy into the trick. You will get way more out of a WA-87 at this price point. The software part of this microphone was literally created for Microsoft Windows 97. Its so outdated and just bad. Go elsewhere.
The sound your vocals has been looking for!

This Mic can hold it's own as a stand alone, however; with the VMS you can enhance the vocals to near perfection utilizing the digital reproductions of some of the most coveted microphones in the business. The VMR (Virtual Mix Rack) allows you to tweak the vocals even further with digital preamp, EQ and compression coming out of the gate. It allows you to build the most important element of a strong mix, "the recording". Which gives you a huge head start on a great sound. If it isn't mentioned in the product description you need an ilock license Manager and an ilock 2 generation dongle or higher in order to activate the product software. This is a serious Mic for serious musicians. If you have a problem, not to worry, Slate Digital tech support is on the scene quick, fast, and in a hurry to get you working.
