Children begin to play with 1, 2, 3, or more bars depending on their individual abilities. In Elementary Music Education, chime bars within the F major and G major scale are preferable because they correspond with the vocal range of the child. Starting for example with C, G, and A, the range can be extended gradually by adding E, D, F#, H, B, and high C to create a full octave.
