Great Overall Buy

I just recieved my multi rod sticks in the mail two weeks ago. They are great for practice and playing in quiet situations for events (or in church like me). They have the weight of about a 5A or 7A stick with a good rebound also. Only down-fall is that from the first day just one stick out of the pair has been rebellious and the rods tend to slip out which causes the other ones to shift in the rubber grip. However, when working properly, the feel, grip and sound is great! I will buy again.

Wedding Multi-Rods

I bought these for quiet gigs like weddings, this is the second pair I have bought and both pairs have rods separating and start extending beyond the tip. Every 2-3 songs you have to push them back in and there is no way to tape them or stop this from happening. They are durable and don't dent or splinter as fast as others I have tried but I'll be trying a different manufacturer for my next purchase.

  • Rods Started Coming Apart In The First Song

I decided to give these a try because the store was out of stock of my go to. The rods started coming out of the front of the bundle in the very first song I played live with my band. I am not a heavy hitter, and am using these to keep volume down even further. I pushed the rod back in while playing, it continued to happen. I tried a 2nd song and then gave up. This is a design flaw that SPL needs to figure out and other reviews support what I am sharing. I was hoping it may have been because others were heavy hitters, but that was not the case.

I typically use Vic Firth Rute Birch but thought I would try the less expensive SPL Multi-Rod. Individual sticks on the SPL were breaking after only 45 minutes of first use. Not worth the lower price.

They do the trick. A few ends started breaking off only after a few weeks but for not too much money, it's not a big deal. Great for acoustic sets, smaller venues, jazz, etc

  • Nice hot rods
