Excellent budget cymbal stand

I bought one of these with a SPL straight cymbal stand, and I wish I'd just gotten two of these instead. For five bucks more, you get the added versatility of a boom arm cymbal stand, but one feature that is somewhat overlooked (and shown in the third photo) is the ability to recess the boom arm into the main support pole, functionally turning it into a straight cymbal stand anyhow. So for five extra bucks, you basically get both types of stand in one. I'd sooner buy three of these than some of the really high end ones on the market, because these will have plenty of stability to work with most drum kits and cymbals of any size.

What can wrong with a cymbal stand? When it's SPL, a lot

Got a boom stand. The top tube would not slide through the plastic sleeve used to tighten/loosen it in the tripod . It took 15 minutes to force it in and then only entered a little bit, then it became stuck and would not budge. Returned it to an associate who didn't believe me, I left him and a second associate wrestling with it as I left the store with my refund.

An expert prop master could not design a cymbal stand that would fall apart as comedically perfect as the one I received. A few seconds into attempting to play with a 15" crash, the cymbal was moving to a tilt. One half turn to try and tighten down and it all fell apart hitting the floor - cymbal and all. Spend the extra and get something else.

  • Just what I needed.

This stand is about as solid as my PDP ones on all my other cymbals. It seems pretty rugid and for the price it's hard to beat.
