Soundcraft

collapse expand iconDescription

The Soundcraft EPM8 is a 8x2 frame size mixer that places emphasizes on quality, audio performance, and an easy to understand, uncluttered control surface. Surface mount technology is used throughout this 8-channel mixer, using close-tolerance components for high accuracy and repeatable settings for EQ and gain controls. The highly transparent GB30 mic preamps--designed by Graham Blyth and used on the larger LX7ii and GB Series consoles--feature high-resolution adjustment over a wide gain range of 55dB, and provide a stunning +22dB headroom through the console. The Soundcraft EPM8's true professional 48-volt phantom power caters to condenser microphones of all types. Unique signal monitoring watches for overload in several channel strip locations and illuminates the LED more brightly as the signal approaches peak. 60mm high-quality faders are used. The monitor and headphone outputs work in parallel so that performers can listen on phones while an engineer listens to studio monitors.

Love this mixer. I replaced an old Phonic mixer with this one. The improvement in sound quality was obvious. Much more transparent and clearer. I thought my set up sounded good before but now it is even better.

We were looking for a small format mixer for our drummer to mix track, click, drum pad, and a midi controller. We wanted to control the mix for each ear going to the phones and still have a stereo feed for the FOH. After searching all day at NAMM the EPM8 was exactly what we were looking for. By looping the two aux out ports back into the 2 track inputs, we have full control of the phones mix without having to add an external headphone amp. And it looks to be built with the quality you expect from a Soundcraft mixer.

This is a really impressive little mixer. The preamps have plenty of headroom, which is often a problem on smaller, less expensive boards. Great EQs with sweepable mids, and the 2 pre/post switchable AUX sends, are features not found on most mixers of this size. The way the power cord connects is just stupid, but it's not really a problem unless you're OCD like me.
