I LOVE this product
A week or so after seeing Fall Out Boy in concert, I decided I wanted to start playing the bass (watch Pete Wentz kill it with a bass on fire, and try not to be inspired, I dare you). I went to 1 Guitar Center near me, and they were incredibly busy. I left empty handed as I was really hoping to talk to an employee or someone who plays the bass, so I could be turned in the right direction. I was dead set on getting a bass, so I drove 40 minutes to the next closest GC. I looked for a few minuets and saw a display of these kits, "what a great idea! For about the same price of a used bass and used amp, cords, straps… everything… I can get this new kit." I went to the desk and asked if someone could help me and talk to me about it first. The man who helped me said, "we are going to do this the right way. Let's put a P bass and a J bass in your hands. Feel them, tickle them, love on them, and we will decide what's best for you." I'll be honest, I felt like a wizard getting their wand (you know what book/movie I'm talking about). I decided on the P bass (according to the employee and my partner, my face lit up and we all knew it was the one for me). I grabbed a kit and rushed home to start playing. I don't typically like the "free lessons" included with things I buy (sewing machines, air fryers, whatever…) but let me tell you: Fender Play is AMAZING. I have been progressing so fast, I'm so proud of myself when I play a riff to a song I actually like (not Hot Cross Buns or Twinkle Twinkle)! The 3 free months of FP is reason enough you should get this kit. The bass is a great starter, it's cheap by all means, but all the more reason I don't feel bad about putting stickers on the frets as I learn cords. The strap it comes with is horrible, so do yourself a favor and invest in a good one. The amp does exactly what you need it to do. And the carrying case is not very protective, but it gets the job done, so just take extra care of your new baby. I would recommend this product to anyone new to the bass or someone getting back into it. It would be great for a teens and adults, as it is really heavy. There is a bit of fret buzz, but you either troubleshoot it, or learn to incorporate it into your jam sessions. Overall, this product was just what I needed to get started and fall in love with the bass.

Decent bass, only if it's your first one.
I bought this bass 3 weeks ago from today, and it's decent. I like it, the color is nice, neck feels comfortable, and the frets are just right. Even sounds pretty great. However, mine came with an issue in it that causes feedback from the cable. I have to constantly tighten the input jack to prevent feedback, which doesn't even matter anymore because the cable's input jack is bent after using it for only three weeks. I have to straighten it to not get feedback. The pickups on the bass aren't set correctly either, the P pickup was literally at a flat 180 degrees. The intonation was difficult to fix as well, and wasn't set correctly. Literally was a half step sharp on the G string. I had to adjust the truss rod too. The amp is pretty good if you're starting out, I like it but I'll be switching to new gear in a few months, probably sooner because of the cable. The gig bag this comes with is at most just a protective sleeve, and won't protect your bass very well. The bridge also gets caught on the inside of it. The tuners also go flat after a couple hours of not using it, which is expected of a cheaper bass like this. The strap is also very cheap and pops off very easily. I'll be getting a new strap too. Overall, this is a decent bass, but you'll need to get some new gear with it and do some proper maintenance, which is useful knowledge. Other than that, it sounds good, plays decently, and feels great. I like the lightweight body.

It's good as a fist bass but after time the bass doesnt sound good. There is a lot of fret buzz which is so bad. I would recommend changing the strings as soon as you get it do to the fact the strings that it comes with are poorly and do not sound great.
