Squier Classic Vibe Active '70s Jazz Bass V Bass Guitar Sienna Sunburst

Description
The Squier Classic Vibe Active '70s Jazz Bass V bass guitar brings bold style and punchy tone to the modern player's toolkit, combining retro visual appeal with updated electronics and extended low-end range. Inspired by the unmistakable groove machines of the 1970s, this 5-string Jazz Bass is loaded with features that support dynamic tone shaping, clean articulation and effortless feel across all five strings. The vintage-tinted neck, HiMass bridge and pearloid block inlays pay homage to classic Fender aesthetics, while the onboard 9V preamp delivers the kind of tonal flexibility today's bassists demand. Whether you're laying down funk-driven lines or pushing the low B to thunderous depths, this active Jazz Bass V is built to perform and styled to stand out.
Extended-Range Jazz Bass Body Built for Clarity and Punch
Crafted from poplar and finished in a sleek gloss polyurethane, the Classic Vibe Active '70s Jazz Bass V body retains the signature J Bass silhouette while adding the low-end power of a 5-string configuration. The lightweight body supports long sessions without fatigue, while the offset shape ensures balanced comfort whether playing seated or standing. A 4-ply pearloid pickguard gives this Sienna Sunburst finish a layer of visual polish, perfectly complementing the bass's vintage aesthetic. From jazz clubs to stadium stages, this body design offers both ergonomic ease and punchy resonance that holds its own in any mix.
Maple Neck With Fast Feel and Vintage Gloss Tint
The maple neck features a comfortable, familiar feel thanks to its traditional Jazz Bass profile and tinted gloss urethane finish. With a 34" scale length and vintage-style headstock markings, it blends old-school appeal with modern comfort. Paired with an Indian laurel fingerboard adorned with pearloid block inlays and 20 narrow-tall frets, the neck offers excellent visual contrast and smooth playability across the full range. Whether you're gliding through melodic fills or holding down complex groove patterns, this neck gives you the freedom and control to express your style with ease.
Fender-Designed Alnico Noiseless Pickups With Active/Passive Flexibility
At the heart of this Jazz Bass V are a pair of Fender-designed alnico noiseless pickups, engineered for clear, punchy tone without the hum. A 9V preamp system expands tonal flexibility with controls for master volume, master tone, pickup blend and bass/treble boost. A convenient mini toggle allows you to switch between active and passive operation, letting you dial in studio-clean tones or raw vintage warmth on the fly. This intuitive setup puts total control at your fingertips—perfect for players who demand tone-shaping power without sacrificing simplicity.
HiMass Bridge and Durable Nickel Hardware
The HiMass bridge anchors your tone with enhanced resonance and sustain, ensuring stable intonation and a firm low end. Its solid construction complements the added tension of the low B string, providing balanced response across all five strings. Nickel-plated vintage-style tuners offer reliable pitch stability with a throwback look, while the bone nut enhances string clarity and durability. Every detail—from the black control knobs to the gloss-finished hardware—adds up to an instrument that feels as solid as it sounds.
A 5-String Jazz Bass for Demanding Modern Players
The Squier Classic Vibe Active '70s Jazz Bass V is the perfect blend of vintage aesthetic, extended-range capability and versatile tone shaping. Ideal for funk, rock, R&B and more, it's a five-string workhorse built for serious players who want timeless Fender style with modern upgrades. Mine has a few minor finish flaws and I'm sure I could exchange it or request an adjustment for the blemishes, if it bothers me enough. Otherwise, this is a well-crafted instrument. Setup using lighter strings was a breeze - no funky hardware issues that got in the way of achieving low action and intonation. Bridge and tuners seem solid. The neck is smooth and comfortable - not sticky, and the frets are well-dressed. The bass holds its position well when using a strap. It operates noiselessly and nails the classic J-sound. For context, I play at home on a small Markbass rig.
