  • no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to work

Due to the way Steinberg sets this up it takes hours to just input the codes to get started. Since I needed something to work rather immediately this wasn't the ideal choice. Once it was connected it proved to be awkward and mostly unworkable. After 3 or 4 days I just sent it back and I'm awaiting my refund. It might be a good device, but for me it was completely unworkable and for the most part a waste of my time and energy.

I was torn between this and the larger UR816c. The bigger one was out of stock and more expensive so I got this and I'm glad I did. I can throw it into my gig bag and record wherever I am. It says you can power it via the USB-C port but higher sample rates do require the power adapter. It works great with the laptop but I more frequently record straight into Cubasis or Garage Band on my phone. Mostly I'm super impressed that I can have a complete recording rig that fits in my gig bag.

This product is very frustrating and unreliable. I really wanted to love it, especially during this period of down time when live music is at a complete haunt and live streaming has taken its place. On paper this interface was exactly what I was looking for. The reality was hours of trouble shooting and large download files for software that glitched out regularly. I had to return this product and went with the focusrite Clarett 4pre instead.
