Great Clarity for Midrange and High Freq territory
I was given this microphone to test out. Room was acoustically treated and shot with many recordings for percussion/drums done at this studio Sound Sources: Snare Drum, Congas, Djembe, Shaker Construction: All metal casing, suitable for live sound application without worry, includes nice carrying case too. Sound Quality: For all my sources, I was able to get the mid range and high frequency range coming through clearly in the mix with detail and tone. This is not an overly sensitive mic and you should have no problem dialing it in with a preamp or mixer. With the congas we were able to capture the sound perfectly a few inches off the head and at a 45 degree angle, you'll need slightly more gain here, however, you won't have to worry about picking up nearby mics if you are doing multiple close mics for percussion sources. Overall Impression: This is a great microphone that really excels as a close range mic for mid range instrument sources like percussion. I would find it suitable for any live shows I do so]und for, or recording percussion elements. I didn't try it on a guitar cab, but I would guess in a live situation it could do it well.

not as wonderful as the reviews imho
not a lot of gain. i am using it to mic an acoustic guitar then run that into a small , 180 watt, powered speaker. not much gain. must run the amp at redline. not really working as well for me as the happy reviewers who persuaded me to buy it.

I will be using this mic mostly for live sound, and maybe some home studio recording. The mic has a good, hefty feel and all of my test runs made me very happy with my purchase- sound quality coming from the mic was excellent. And you can't beat the price - this mic sounds as good as others costing twice as much. #sweepstakes

Pretty good mic! Have used it only for micing my guitar cab in my home studio. I have to say I like it a little better than an sm57 on heavy guitars. But the 57 is acceptable in about any situation. As for how this one behaves on drums, bass, vocals, heck, even the presidents podium (notice, there's always an sm57) I can't say. They tell me I shouldn't mention price in this review but let's just say i got it at a very steep discount while on sale at my local store. I wasn't expecting much, but it's a fine product with fancy packaging, and a very nice storage bag. If you're looking for a mic for your guitars, especially heavy guitars, even at full price, it beats the heck out of the competition.
