A redesigned interface makes recording simple. Easily monitor levels, delete takes, add markers or change settings with the press of a button. A bright display shows settings clearly even in sunlight. Multi-language menus support English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and more.
Turn Your Computer Into a Recording Studio
The DR-05X doubles as a USB audio interface to connect professional-grade mics and instruments to your computer. Use the built-in mics as USB mics to livestream, record podcasts or use in a digital audio workstation with no settings changes required.

Needs to Supply USB Cable
I literally spent HOURS trying to get this to connect with my computers - I tried everything - four different computers (3 PCs and 1 Mac Book Pro), different SD cards, different cables, etc. and none of them would connect via USB. Tascam's web site was useless and it wasn't until I got in touch with tech support (I was about to return it), that I was told that not all cables are equal and needed a Micro USB cable with data sync. So, I made another trip to buy a cable and that solved the problem. I'd give this five stars but Tascam needs to get their act together and either provide the cable or make it very clear as to what is required. So far, this recorder seems to to a splendid job.

Extremely Frustrating
I purchased this based upon multiple reviews. However, it wasn't until I got home and tried to upgrade the firmware (the first thing one should do with new hardware) that I discovered that it will NOT connect with a USB cable as advertised! (FYI, a USB cable is not supplied nor is an SD card.) I have spent the last few hours trying to get it to connect to THREE different Windows computers, a Mac Book Pro, and also to a Mac using Bootcamp. I've tried multiple cables and multiple SD cards - NOTHING works! I've since found that this is a problem but nothing has been done to fix it. If tech support can't fix it tomorrow, I'm taking this back. FYI, I'm very computer literate.
