The TC Electronic Sentry noise gate guitar effects pedal offers discerning guitarists superior noise reduction with its advanced multiband technology. Utilizing the acclaimed System 6000 studio algorithms, the Sentry noise gate pedal delivers studio-quality noise reduction optimized for guitar. With the Sentry's highly intuitive interface, you'll dial in the ideal gate settings to eliminate unwanted hum and noise from your signal quickly and easily.

Squash Noise With Hard Gate or Multiband Modes

The Sentry noise gate provides two distinct gating modes to match your needs. Hard gate mode offers an aggressive noise cutoff for dramatic transitions from full volume to complete silence. Let your epic riff emerge with force from the stillness for maximum impact. Multiband mode is perfect for transparent, natural-sounding noise reduction. The advanced algorithm isolates and removes specific frequencies, retaining your core guitar tone without compromising dynamics.

Use Send/Return Jacks for Creative Sidechaining

The Sentry's send/return jacks allow for creative sound shaping possibilities. Sidechain noisy pedals or amps to isolate them from your main signal path. This prevents unwanted noise while maintaining their unique tonal qualities. You can also use the send/return for rhythmic sidechaining effects in sync with your playing. Whether you want transparent noise reduction or creative sound design, the Sentry delivers.

Customize Your Sound With TonePrint

TC Electronic's TonePrint Editor software lets you fine tune the Sentry's parameters for your exact needs. Sculpt the perfect gate to interact seamlessly with your rig. Or access TonePrints created by top guitarists for their preferred gate settings. With TonePrint, the Sentry becomes an integral part of your signature tone.

Another Home Run From TC

After using a Boss NS-2 for a while, I got tired of the fact that the gate closed SO. DARN. SLOWLY. No matter how aggressively I'd set the pedal, it always let feedback come through for a second before latching. Not so with the Sentry - that gate closes IMMEDIATELY, and it doesn't let a peep through. I have a pretty high-gain rig, and I'm still at 12:00 with the Threshold knob - this thing can handle a ton of noise! Oh - and TonePrint RULES. You can beam new settings to your pedal through your guitar's pickups - it sounds like an old dial-up modem and it's pretty cool. It's like experiencing the future and past all at once! This is a great noise gate!

Disappointing

I have owned other TC units in the past including a G System which I had no issues with its gate. I have also owned professional rack mount and pedal noise gates including Rockton, dbx and BSS, Digitech, Sure, Roland, Boss and Line 6 etc. The concept of a multiband gate seems like a good one but the implementation seems to be lacking here. The first problem is the documentation is poor (Try and find the input/output impedances or the even what levels you can feed it etc.). The forum is now buried in Music Tribe forum and things are difficult to find. Second problem is the unit actually amplifies white noise in the signal chain when it is engaged. I'm not sure if the is the buffer or related to the downward expander but that should not happen with a gate. At least it should not be audible on a clean channel of a guitar amp. Updating the firmware helps a little with the noise floor but the gate is still pretty slow and colors the sound. The whole point of the gate is not to hear it. I give it two stars because what it has to do is really simple and it doesn't do it very well based on experience .

This is a fine noise suppressor but I didn't like how it affected my distortion, I like how it reacted my Big Muff but didn't play well with my other pedals. I preferred the Boss NS-2. But it may work better with your set up.

  • Hope it lasts

I bought this pedal through the website that clearly stated, and is on my purchase history, as new. I selected curbside pickup at the Crestwood, MO location. When I drove there to collect the pedal I waited a ten minutes then was brought out the pedal that is clearly used. The associate handed me the pedal that was in no box. I have no manual, type A to mini B USB cable (that's to accompany the pedal, or power brick... nothing. I called the next day and was offered a 20% discount. The person I had spoken with told me that the pedal was a store demo and that that is considered new. Unreal. I have purchased tons of gear from this company, new, and have never had this happen. I will most definitely stick with Sweetwater -every piece of gear I bought from them is new and in its original packaging. Guitar Center has lost a customer.

  • Really good design.... It quiets the beast

How I've been playing guitar for 20 years without one is ridiculous. Huge game changer. But, you can't hide behind feedback so your picking has to be on point because you'll have nothing to hide behind.
