collapse expand iconDescription

The TC Electronic Thunderstorm Flanger effects pedal brings you dynamic, analog flange effects in a rugged and roadworthy stompbox. With its all-analog bucket brigade circuitry, the Thunderstorm delivers incredibly warm, lush modulation reminiscent of classic rock and psychedelic guitar tones. Dial in buttery smooth chorus effects or dive into full-on flanger frenzy with the intuitive controls for Rate, Depth, Manual and Feedback. The Rate knob lets you sweep through a wide range of flange speeds, from mellow and gradual to rapid and intense. Control the intensity of the effect with the Depth knob, going from subtle movement to heavily warped sounds. The Manual knob adjusts the center delay time, allowing you to shape the character of the flange. Feedback introduces controllable negative or positive feedback for more extreme effects. When you want your original dry tone, the Thunderstorm's true-bypass design ensures zero effect on your signal when off. Housed in a die-cast metal chassis, this compact, rugged stompbox is ready to bring vintage vibe to your pedalboard.

Analog Circuitry Captures Classic Flange Tones

The Thunderstorm owes its incredibly dynamic, expressive sound to its all-analog bucket-brigade circuitry. This gives the pedal rich, three-dimensional flange tones that beautifully capture the vibe of rock and psychedelic guitar sounds from the '60s and '70s. Whether you want to recreate iconic guitar work from Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix or other classic players, the Thunderstorm has you covered. The analog design brings true warmth and depth to the modulation effects.

Intuitive Controls Give You Total Flange Control

With its straightforward control set, you can easily shape the Thunderstorm's flange effects to match your creative vision. The Rate knob adjusts the sweep speed of the flange. Turn it counter-clockwise for luxuriously smooth, gradual modulation or clockwise for rapid, intense effects. The Depth control determines the intensity, going from subtle chorus-like tones to heavily warped sounds. Use the Manual knob to set the center delay time, tailoring the overall flange character. Feedback introduces controllable positive or negative feedback for more extreme effects.

True Bypass Keeps Your Tone Pure

The Thunderstorm features a true-bypass design that keeps your tone unaffected when the pedal is off. This ensures that your pure guitar tone always comes through when you don't want flange effects. You never have to worry about the Thunderstorm pedal coloring your sound.

Decent flanger sound

As cheap pedals go, this one is pretty good. It can do everything from a pseudo-chorus sound to that extreme sort of flanger sound that makes it sound like your guitar is under 50 feet of water. I have had only two issues with the pedal. One is the size. This is a much larger pedal than I would like (it's about 50% larger than the Hall of Fame reverb on my board), and takes up a bit too much space. The other issue is that you absolutely need to make sure this is in the right spot in your pedal chain, otherwise there can be some unusual feedback. Other than that, it's got a nice sound to it, much better than you would expect for the price. I actually got it on sale for $10 cheaper than the normal price, but even paying full price it's probably worth it if you don't mind the size.

worst sounding flanger I have ever owned.

buy a used mxr or boss for about the same price. Truly a waste of money. TC electronics will never get another penny from me.

I've been playing guitar for 50 years, and never owned a flanger. When I encountered this model on sale, I couldn't resist. What a happy surprise for me, as it produces a shimmery, wavery tone that is truly pleasant to the ear. I'd recommend this pedal easily.

  • Really nice Flanger, for a great price

In the loop for a lush classic clean tone or after the overdrive into the front of the amp for classic EVH tone. This built like a tank pedal delivers a big bang for your buck.
