Sculpt Vocals and Guitar Independently

Sculpt Vocals and Guitar Independently

Unlike typical multi-effects units, the VoiceLive 3 Extreme keeps your vocal and guitar processing paths completely separate via dedicated outputs. This lets you dial in the perfect effects for each source without compromise. Send your mic through lush reverbs and harmonies while keeping your guitar tones gritty and dry—or vice versa. You have full control to craft complementary yet distinct sounds, and prevent any muddiness in the mix. Dual inputs with switchable impedances also accommodate both mic and instrument sources.

Take your performances to new heights with the incredibly versatile TC Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme. This powerful yet easy-to-use pedal empowers you to create studio-caliber sounds on stage while automating effects for a consistently polished show.

EXCELLENT UNIT

I use the VL3X for live performances. I record backing tracks on my laptop and then transfer them into the unit. Then I can progam each song with the vocal harmonies and effects etc that I want along with the guitar tone, volume and all that. It is my band. With this I can simply plug in my guitar and vocal mic and be a band, it allows me to solo as well has have vocal harmonies on the chorus or where ever I program them in. I love it. The only problem is that the manual sucks and it took me a long time, and with the help of the tech guy many times, to really learn how to work it. And I don't think I really have it totally down yet, but enough to use it for what I need. Great unit, needs better instruction on how to use it.

Disappointing

The marketing says you will be able to use 90% of the features within 5 minutes. After reading the entire manual and spending 3 hours trying to set it up I can not get a usable sound for a simple acoustic and 1 vocal setup. A ridiculous waste of time. Too bad. It's going back.

I love the flexibility this gives me and my band mates to perform different genres and songs. We play in an Elecric rock band but decided to strip down to a 3 piece aucoustic ensemble. The ability to add backing tracks for string sections and piano as well as female vocals and such were what really sell performances and make each song stand out. It adds those touches of flavor that straight acoustic just leaves wanting. The vocal effect and guitar effects are no slouch on this either. I an always amazed when hitting a five part harmony on this and hearing it respond real time and seeing the reaction on the crowds face as they try to wonder "Is it live or is it memorex?" Well worth the money.

  • Blank White Screen With Blue Border

Opening a sealed, brand-new unit, I turned it on and waiting, waiting. Nothing appeared on the LCD, just a blank white screen with a blue border. It seems this problem is widespread for VL3 & VL3X. How come this could get past basic QA testing?

There's nothing that can be said about this pedal that hasn't already been said. It's amazing for live performances if you are an acoustic instrumentalist. It completely changed what is capable for solo acts.

I read the reviews about how hard it is to use as well as all the great reviews. I am very experienced with technology and menus, so I found it very easy. Simply by watching the tutorials on the TC Helicon Website, I was on my way and had 16 songs programmed for a gig in 3 days after I received it! So far haven't had the need to look at the downloaded manual. An incredible value and great combination with the Fishman Loudbox Artist!

  • Decent if willing to learn it, not for electric guitar

This is great for an acoustic artist. For electric these sounds aren't even passable to me. There is also really bad output on the guitar outs and thru. Noisy as all get out on those outputs. In my blues/rock band, I just use it for vocals and feed the guitar in with a splitter because the guitar thru on the VL3x is unusable. I should be able to plug my guitar into the VoiceLive 3x and then take the signal out with the thru to whatever else, but the noise level is so bad it is unusable so I bought a Lehle Splitter to feed the VL3x and my electric pedals. Using it with acoustic is nice because you can get a good acoustic sound using the BodyRez feature. The looper is OK, you can't switch loops with the external foot switches yet (good god TC Helicon, why can't you make this happen?) You also can't play all three loops at once. You can only play two of the loops at one time. I am able to connect OnSong over bluetooth to my Beat Buddy and then with Midi thru connect to the VL3x and have them all work together, changing songs, tempo and presets. It is a beautiful thing. I think for what I do I could have just used the Play Acoustic. If the guitar outputs weren't noisy and the electric crunch and distortion sounds were better it would be work the price, but for electric guitar you are going to be ery dissappointed. If all you want is looper and vocals/harmonies TC Helicon has cheaper options.

I am optomistic about being able to learn the usage and operation of the equipment.

Now that TC Electronics has had a few years to work out the kinks, are the 2019 VL3X units currently more reliable and more likely to work correctly out of the box. All these negative reviews regarding blank screens and failures are a little scary given the high price of this unit. If it does everything the VL2 is capable of ... plus the many new features that's all great, but I can't afford to carry two in case one breaks down.

I have seen a big improvement in them and a lot less returns due to defect. Even if you do get one that ends up being a dud we still have our 45 day return policy.
