Tannoy

collapse expand iconDescription

The Tannoy Reveal 402 brings the British brand's acclaimed studio monitor technology to desktops and small spaces. With a 4" woofer and 3/4" tweeter powered by a built-in 70W amp, the Reveal 402 generates a remarkably big, clear sound. Its compact form factor is ideal for producers, podcasters and musicians needing accurate near-field monitoring. But don't let its size fool you - the 402 packs decades of Tannoy's expertise into an ultra-efficient design optimized for desktop use.

Equipped With a Tweeter and Woofer That Deliver Detailed Highs and Rich Lows

The Reveal 402's 4" woofer provides robust low-end, while its 3/4" tweeter articulates sparkling highs. Together they generate a smooth frequency response perfect for mixing and mastering. The 402's perfectly integrated 70W amp ensures this matched pair performs at their best. Expect clear mids and tight bass even at high volumes - everything you need to make mixing decisions with confidence.

Engineered Crossover Provides Optimized Response for Desktop Use

Tannoy custom-tuned the 402's crossover specifically for near-field monitoring environments. This means you get a broad sweet spot that retains stereo imaging whether you're sitting at your desk or have clients in the room. The 402's controlled dispersion prevents early reflections from your desktop that might color your mix. Just position the 402's front-firing port at least 6" from walls for optimal bass response.

Easy to Set up With Included Cable for Linking Monitors

Connecting the 402 is simple with a 1/4" TRS input for balanced sources like audio interfaces. An RCA input handles consumer devices. Use the included cable to quickly link two 402's in stereo. There's also independent gain and HF trim controls to tune the 402's voicing for your room's acoustics. Getting great sound is easy right out of the box.

Legendary Tannoy Sound in a Small Package

Drawing on decades of experience, Tannoy put their formidable engineering into the 402. The result is the renowned Tannoy sound now sized for desktops. With impressive power, customizable voicing and optimized design, the 402 brings studio-quality monitoring to home studios and anywhere space is limited but sound quality matters.

Great overall sound, considering the size. Quality piece, especially for the price.

I have a very small room and I play around with FL. Studio using these, I'm into Hip Hop, The low end on these is better than I expected, my first reaction was-whoa! I keep the volume on these in the center kind of scared to turn them all the way up cuz I heard a few pops on the sub bass/kicks although centered is loud enough to satisfy me plugged directly into my laptop with my PC volume all the way up and my FL.Studio volume back and forth, the highs sound nice to for 5" tweeters, I mostly make beats using my headphones so I only tried these out three times so far: we'll see how they hold up over time but so far I am glad I chose the Tannoy's.

These monitors are amazing. Great clarity and overall fidelity. I've had them for 2 years now and they continue to impress me. Excellent bass as well, especially for their size. Great for recording / mixing or general listening too. I love them and so will you. If this size suits your needs, you won't be disappointed whatsoever.

Excellent backup studio speakers. I use these alongside my yamaha hs8s to compare mixed tracks. They are darker sounding than the yamahas but are closer to what you would get in everyday car speakers, etc which gives a good real world reference. They are still bright and lively enough for casual listening and the bass response is plenty deep. The sound is focused with enough separation to record professional tracks and they seem especially tuned to guitar/midrange which is useful. Great deal! Highly recommended!

  • Nice tones on low/moderate volumes. Breaks up at max volume

Easy to use and great tones. Hook up was simple. Controls are simple. Con, is that product sound skips at max volumes. I tried various tone changes to allow higher volumes without the breakup, but could not find that setting. My application is for moderate volumes so it does a great job for my needs. If I needed max volume, however, I would have returned it.

The Tannoy Reveal 402 studio monitors push a whole lot of power within a tiny footprint. These monitors are perfect for mixing guitar and vocals, or pretty much anything that doesn't require too much low-end frequency. I use these in my home studio, next to some big 8" monitors, which pack the bass, but don't offer quite enough color to the mix. When I bounce a track and hear it in the car or home stereo, I have to go back and fine-tune it because the large monitors can be deceiving. When I switch over to the Tannoys, the vocals, drums, synths, and guitars reveal a whole new side to the sound. These monitors depict an accurate representation of what the song will sound like in almost any environment. I play, produce, and mix all types of genres: Rock, Hip Hop, Reggae, Dubstep, Electro, Pop. It?s important for me to get an accurate mix of the song fairly quickly. Sitting in the sweet spot gives me the true character of the sound. These definitely have changed the way I work with music! A cool feature that the Reveal 402?s have is the 1/8? audio cable that plugs directly into the back of one of the monitors, and they?re linked together by another audio cable. I can conveniently plug in my iPhone, iPad, or Macbook Pro for a quick reference of a song to compare my mix to, or just to play some music while I?m working on something else. These monitors have a very sleek design, and don?t take up very much space on the desk. They come equipped with a soft foam pad on the bottom to buffer the space between the monitor and the surface they sit on. This makes for a very clean output. These monitors have multiple uses in my studio. I even plug my Roland Fantom G6 workstation into them when I want to work out some sounds, or even produce using the Fantom?s DAW. I would go as far to say that these would be the perfect sized monitors to take on the road. When I?m out on tour, all I need is my Fantom G6 and these monitors to make amazing music on the go. You can?t ask for more in a portable studio! Tannoy has really impressed me, but it?s no surprise given the reputation and quality of products they?ve been producing for decades. Trust Tannoy! I might have to trade in my current 8? monitors for the Reveal 802?s. They also have a midsized Reveal 502 monitor available. The price point on these for the quality is amazing. Musicians rejoice!!!

It says the high-frequency driver is a 3.25". I think it's supposed to be three quarters e.g. 0.75"
