collapse expand iconDescription

The Taylor 117e Grand Pacific acoustic-electric guitar brings Taylor's acclaimed Grand Pacific body shape to an accessible price point. With the 117e, you get the warm, seasoned tone of the Grand Pacific design in an agile, stage- and studio-ready package. This guitar sports a solid Sitka spruce top and layered sapele back and sides for a dynamic range across the tonal spectrum. The Grand Pacific shape itself yields strong, balanced bass response without muddiness, giving you a robust, microphone-friendly acoustic guitar that suits all playing styles. Easy playability comes courtesy of Taylor's comfortable neck profile and fingerboard radius, which electric guitarists will appreciate. Plug in for amplified tones that faithfully capture the 117e's natural acoustic voice thanks to the ES2 pickup system.

Shape Tone With the Responsive Grand Pacific Body

The Grand Pacific body shape gives the 117e a vintage, seasoned tone with strong low-end, well-balanced mids and clear, rounded highs. Its proportions eliminate the woofy lows of traditional dreadnoughts, retaining musical warmth and mic-friendly punch. The Grand Pacific produces broad, overlapping harmonics for a cohesive, blended sound. Strummers, flat-pickers and fingerstylists will all enjoy the versatility it lends across musical genres. Paired with a solid torrefied sitka spruce top, this guitar offers incredible touch sensitivity and dynamic range.

Sitka Spruce and Sapele Woods Create Dynamic Responsiveness

A solid sitka spruce top gives the 117e crisp articulation and a broad dynamic range. This lightweight, resonant wood captures and projects string vibration for excellent volume and sustain. It pairs beautifully with the layered sapele back and sides. Sapele creates a sturdy yet lively platform that complements the spruce top. Together these tonewoods yield balanced sparkle, warmth and punch from bottom to top end. The layered sapele build also provides improved stability for travel and climate fluctuations. Feel your notes ring out with crystal clarity as you dig into the 117e.

ES2 Pickup System Captures Natural Acoustic Tone

Taylor's ES2 pickup system lets you amplify the 117e's organic acoustic tones with excellent amplified response. It uses three calibrated pickup sensors to capture a wide dynamic range unattainable with under-saddle designs. The sensors are positioned behind the saddle so it can fully contact the bridge. This lets the guitar's entire tonal nuance shine through naturally in a PA or recording mix. Easy-to-use bass, mid and treble controls let you shape your amplified tone. On stage or in studio, the ES2 pickup faithfully conveys the 117e's acoustic spirit.

Play All Day on a Slim, Comfortable Neck

The 117e's slim mahogany neck has a smooth satin finish for supreme playability. Its 1-11/16" nut width gives you room to fret chords while still feeling familiar to electric guitarists. The 20-fret ebony fingerboard has a 16" radius for comfortable chording and low action up and down the neck. Even during extended practice sessions, you'll stay relaxed, making the most of the 117e's inspiring voice.

This is an Outstanding Guitar for any age! It is very easy to play / it has the slightly narrower Nut width which I prefer. It has that Great Torrified Spruce Top a Mahogany back and sides. and its own Pickup system that you can use or not. It has want of the best Gig bags out there too! The Grand Pacific body style sounds excellent - just a perfect amount of Mids and some decent Low end. - To me for the Price - Its a No Brainer. For a beginner or a Old Boomer like me!

I went to Guitar Center thinking I was going to get another brand of guitar. I played that one first, as well as others. As soon as I heard this Taylor 117e, I knew it was my guitar. It has a beautiful room-filling sound that makes others I tried sound like they need some cold medication. I love how the guitar looks and feels. It's a joy to play.

Amazing guitar from Taylor. No intention on purchasing but once I played it I couldn't put it down so I walked out with it. My favorite guitar out of the 100 and 200 series from Taylor.
