Description
Combining a classic tonewood selection with their most popular body style, the Taylor 214ce Rosewood acoustic-electric guitar is a player's dream. Whether you prefer delicate fingerpicking, aggressive single-note playing or simple strumming, you'll find the tone, the looks and the build quality you're looking for, as well as stunningly good looks in this stylish instrument.
A Taylor Original Body Style
First introduced in 1994 by Bob Taylor, the Grand Auditorium body style quickly became Taylor's most popular. The Grand Auditorium strikes a balance between the flatpicking-favorite dreadnought and fingerstyle-favored Grand Concert body styles. With a clear, articulate voice that maintains plenty of body, and that responds beautifully across the instrument's entire dynamic range, this body style is aesthetically elevated with the stylish Venetian cutaway and natural finish, along with the carefully selected tonewoods found in the 214ce Rosewood.
Dynamics and Richness From Select Tonewoods
Taylor has been one of the builders at the forefront of the search for sustainable tonewoods, as well as in finding woods that provide unique looks. Rosewood, used in the back and sides of this 214ce, is one of the most in-demand woods for guitars. The layered rosewood used in this 214ce is responsibly sourced and can rival the no-longer-available Brazilian rosewood in appearance. Rosewood is renowned for big, warm treble that balances well with its rich, deep bass. These characteristics are enhanced by the choice of a solid Sitka spruce top for its quick attack, crisp articulation and broad dynamic range.
Innovative Electronics for Studio-Grade Tone Anywhere
The 214ce Rosewood boasts Taylor's Expression System 2 (ES2) pickups and a custom "pro-audio-grade" preamp. This combination delivers a pristine, articulate and highly responsive amplified sound. The unique behind-the-saddle pickup design ensures that every nuance of vibration is captured, preserving the guitar's full dynamic range. Whether played through an amplifier or directly into a soundboard, the authentic tonal quality is faithfully reproduced. Conveniently located on the upper shoulder of the guitar, the user-friendly volume, active bass and treble controls are easily accessible.
A Taylor Neck Renowned for Comfort
With Taylor’s legendary profile, the 25.5”-scale satin-finished 20-fret tropical mahogany neck is topped with a genuine West African ebony fingerboard for incredible playing ease and comfort. The Venetian-style cutaway increases ease of access to the upper frets, giving you the freedom to use the entire neck, giving free rein to your musical imagination.
The Perfect Guitar for the Discerning Player
The Taylor 214ce Rosewood is an ideal choice for players who appreciate quality craftsmanship, exceptional tone, and effortless playability. Whether you're a seasoned performer or an aspiring musician, this guitar will inspire you to explore your creativity and express yourself through music. The combination of premium tonewoods, innovative electronics, and Taylor's renowned neck design creates an instrument that's both a joy to play and a pleasure to own.

Great Sounding Guitar
Once upon a time, these guitars were made in America and had features such as solid rosewood sides to go along with a solid sitka top. Though these are now made in Mexico and feature layered rosewood sides and back, these are still really good guitars. I took a chance on getting one and I have to say that I am very impressed with the setup and sound. This is an acoustic that really has the playability of an electric, something that is not common in a reasonably priced acoustic. Due to the layered rosewood sides and back, the guitar has a rich warmness to it which is in my mind perfect for an acoustic. The size is ideal as well, not too big or small. I do have a gripe on this though, preventing me from giving it a 5 star rating. There are some blemishes on it. The first blemish I observed was a ding on the side of the guitar. This is definitely a detraction for a new guitar. Additionally, the finish is very coarse in some areas. This is definitely not what the American made 200 series was like. The binding has some black staining on it. I have no idea how that got there as the guitar is not stained in black. All in all, the guitar is a good fit for me and my style. The sound and playability is where it should be. There are some finish blemishes that prevent me from giving it a 5 though.

Stunning guitar
I bought the 214 ce to use as a backup for acoustic duo gigs. The look, feel, and sound unplugged are impressive. Then I plugged it into my preamp and PA and I could not get it to sound good. I am a 30 year professional musician and have worked on several guitars. The es2 system sounded to me like a great idea but it is not. Because I love this guitar I will probably install a fishman pickup with sound hole controls and using the same battery/input jack, leaving the es2 system mainly intact so it can easily be reinstalled. So my rating is 5 unplugged and 2 plugged.

Bought this on a whim. Wanted to upgrade from my Seagull. The Taylor neck is very similar. I have small hands. It's new so I need to learn the sound tweaks. The B string can sound a little tinny when plugged in to my Fishman amp but I've been playing around with the knobs and seen to have found a settling that works without killing the treble. So far Im very satisfied and would by again.

Got this on the buy one-get one sale and picked up a gs mini koa as well. Fabulous guitar. Picked it up at my local GC and it played perfectly out of the box. Haven't had to make any adjustments, Neck is so smooth and fast, it plays great and sounds beautiful. I have been wanting a full size Taylor since picking up a used mahogany gs mini a while back, and I couldn't be happier!
Beautiful guitar. A bit bright and neck was squeaky

Beautiful guitar. I really loved a lot about this guitar. Amazing action and very easy to play. And, it had a natural amplification that filled the room. If you'd like a bright sounding tone, this is the one. For me, it was a bit bright and the neck was squeaky. My thumb would squeak as I changed chords. Once I became aware of it, that's all I could hear. I brought it back to guitar Center and swapped it for a Martin GPC-11E Road Series Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Natural I really appreciate guitar Center allowing for such easy returns. Loving the Martin.

My daughter broke the neck on my Yamaha acoustic by somehow stepping on it so it was time to go looking for a replacement. I like Guitar Center's closed off rooms that let you try various guitar brands in a quiet environment. I had tried many in my price range but couldn't find the right one until the associate showed me the Taylor 214. It was love at first strum. The guitar fit my hand's perfectly. I loved the soft expression when fingering and the robust rich sound with a pick. The guitar felt light in my arms the strings were setup perfectly over the frets. Even the lightweight yet sturdy carting case was something I loved. The 214ce was a little more than I wanted to spend but it was a no brainer, I would pull out the plastic and pay on the spot. Now after owning it for a month my only issue is the standard Elixer strings have a prominent treble tone when plugged in. I have the tone knob set to a medium to low setting. Next I have to tweak my amp to get the tone how I like it. All in all would buy it again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for the Taylor 214ce
Great guitar, the es2 system is not good.

I bought the 214 ce for duo gigs. The comfortable feel and sound is excellent, however when I plugged it into my system it had a metallic like sound that I could not eq out. I tried a couple of Fishman products, not disturbing the original state of the guitar, other than changing the bridge saddle. These were ok but not to my standards. Then I realized that all I had to do was install a piezo wire under the saddle and plug it into the existing system. Problem solved. Sounds great! I don't have to get rid of it. The piezo wire is available on line. The hardest part about this is filing the saddle to compensate for the thickness of the piezo wire. The saddle must be completely flat or some strings will be quieter than others. I am a gigging musician for 30 plus years and I have worked on many guitars and I did not want to give up this beautiful instrument. Yes! This is going to my next gig! Good luck.

Does the Taylor 214ce come with a gig bag included? Taylor ships all their guitars with a gig bag or hard shell case, and I don't see a mention of either in your description.
This model comes with the deluxe gig bag.
