Taylor Guitars | World-Class Taylor Craftsmanship In Every Guitar

Description
Body Shape
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking. It reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.
Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Solid Hawaiian Koa is a hardwood that produces a natural compression, yielding more of a controlled "roll-in" effect to a note. The compression evens out a lively attack for a more balanced response. It delivers strong fundamentals with clear and direct focus - similar to mahogany - but with extra top-end shimmer and chime. Layered Hawaiian Koa back and sides create a visually appealing and complementary platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.
Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly whether playing acoustically or plugged-in. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before while playing plugged-in.
Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, and active bass and treble controls.

I bought one a year ago because of its beauty. I returned it because I was a beginner and not knowing anything about guitar. After, one year of practicing, I came across again with this guitar and gave it another try. I changed the strings to extra light strings, sanded down the saddle, and adjusted the truss rod. Voila! she is a keeper! Now, I enjoy this one along with my other guitars.

I went to GC with the intent to purchase a Gibson j45 (the acoustic workhorse). So, I picked up the J 45 and played for a bit. But the Taylor Koa caught my eye. I then put down the Gibson and began playing the Taylor. Well, I couldn't put it down! The warmth of the lows, awesome midrange and sweet top end blew my ears away. I could not believe the sound. Also, it felt so very comfortable in my hand. I ran up and down the neck-single notes, scales, chords, arpeggios-all perfect frets-absent of buzz. I guess the intonation was perfect. No, it was not the same as the Gibson, but to my ear, it sounded much better AND was 1k cheaper. I could not believe it. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Gibson guitars, but this Taylor Koa-oh man! Ultimately, I purchased it (after spending about 2 hours playing it in the acoustic room)-yea, sorry for that. Anyway, you WILL NOT be disappointed when playing this guitar. Aesthetically, it is also beautiful-which initially caught my eye. But, as we all know as musicians and guitar players…it's what a guitar sounds and feels like that makes us buy a guitar-for the most part. This one has it all! Stunned.

Great guitar to play and sing songs to because the sound is so rich. It's hard to put down because it's fun to play and sounds perfect with many popular acoustic songs.
