collapse expand iconDescription

The 314ce V-Class Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric from Taylor brings together exceptional acoustic sound with modern innovations. This Grand Auditorium model features premium tonewoods, including a Sitka spruce top, and sapele back and sides. Together, they produce a balanced tone, with the spruce providing crisp, articulate highs and the sapele offering full-bodied, punchy mids and lows. Inside, Taylor's advanced V-Class bracing boosts volume and sustain across the tonal spectrum, while also improving the guitar's overall intonation—and it amplifies beautifully with Expression System 2 electronics.

Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Body

Unique Taylor Grand Auditorium Body Style

The Grand Auditorium shape has long been a Taylor trademark, effortlessly blending rich low end, sparkling highs and articulate midrange. Its narrowed waist makes it comfortable for long playing sessions, while its soft Venetian cutaway offers access to the upper frets for solos and melodic riffs. Whether fingerpicking or strumming, this responsive design makes the 314ce ideal for a wide range of playing styles.

Taylor 314ce V-Class Bracing

Revolutionary V-Class Bracing

V-Class bracing by Taylor represents a massive leap forward in acoustic guitar engineering, breaking from traditional methods in ways that significantly impact the 314ce's performance. The pattern optimizes the soundboard's vibrational movement, resulting in astonishing dynamic range, sustain and tonal balance. Notes ring out with improved intonation across all registers, and chords sound fuller and more resonant. V-Class bracing opens up the 314ce's voice, unleashing impressive volume and presence.

Taylor 314ce Tonewoods

Vibrant Spruce and Sapele Tonewood

The 314ce pairs a solid Sitka spruce top with sapele back and sides. Spruce is prized for its crisp articulation, shimmering overtones and balanced frequency reproduction. Sapele's warm, punchy midrange adds dimension that fills out the guitar's timbre beautifully. As a whole, these tonewoods create a rich, sophisticated sound with plenty of harmonic complexity. The satin finish also serves to protect the wood while letting it resonate freely.

Taylor 314ce Electronics

ES2 Pickup System

The proprietary Taylor Expression System 2 is a revolutionary pickup that accurately captures the 314ce's authentic acoustic tone. Its behind-the-saddle transducer blends with custom preamp circuitry to convey all the guitar's natural dynamics and resonance, as if you were hearing the guitar blossom acoustically in the room. Controls include volume, bass and treble, while tweaking the tone filters in tandem creates a unique midrange scoop or push, depending on position. Plug in for stage use or recording, and you'll love the ES2's clear, organic sound.

With its impressive specs and innovative features, the 314ce V-Class Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric is an inspiring tool for any player. Try the Taylor 314ce at your local Guitar Center to hear your music come alive like never before. This one-of-a-kind instrument leverages a thoughtful combination of tonewoods, ergonomics, custom electronics and innovative internal bracing for an inspiring acoustic-electric experience.

Excellent Playing Guitar

Alright, so I've been playing guitars for over 40 years now – everything from loud electrics to the more mellow classical kind, which I've really gotten into these last seven years. So, when I finally got my hands on the Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium acoustic, I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. And honestly? This guitar totally blew me away with how well it handles everything I throw at it. Right away, the 314ce just feels right. The shape of it (that's the Grand Auditorium part) is super comfortable to hold, and the neck feels great in your hand. Whether I'm running my fingers over the strings for a gentle melody or really digging in with a pick for a louder sound, it just plays like a dream. It's truly amazing how easily you can switch between different ways of playing on this guitar. When I'm using a pick, the guitar gives you this really clear, strong sound that just fills the room. Chords sound rich and full, and individual notes ring out clearly without being harsh. You can really get into it and strum hard, and it just keeps sounding awesome, full and powerful. But here's what really surprised me in a good way: playing with just my fingers. After spending so much time with classical guitars, I'm pretty particular about how an acoustic responds to a light touch. The 314ce absolutely nails it. It gives you this warm, deep sound that has great sustain. Every note is distinct, and the guitar reacts beautifully to how hard or soft you play, letting you really express yourself. Plus, being a cutaway makes it super easy to reach those higher notes, which is a big help. And the Expression System 2 sounds good when you plug it into my Acoustic 20 amplifier. It sounds just like the guitar does when it's not plugged in, which is exactly what you want for playing live or recording. The controls are simple to figure out, so you can quickly adjust your sound without messing anything up. The Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium is an incredibly flexible guitar. For someone like me, who switches between electric and classical styles, and uses both a pick and fingerstyle, this guitar is just perfect. It feels great, sounds incredible, and sounds amazing through my Acoustic 20 amplifier. If you're a serious player looking for an acoustic guitar that can truly do everything, I wholeheartedly recommend this one.

Perfect 3 string guitar

This review will attempt to provide a balanced view of the guitar itself as I have owned this for over a year. Pro: Taylor brightness. Playing open chords gives an exhilarating zing you can feel and hear. The cutaway gives great access to high leads. The Expression pickup system is fabulous and certainly better than any piezo pickup with the "quack". Great on the G B e strings for leads and chords, sparkling, and bright classic Taylor. It is a beautiful piece with the inlays. Con: There are dead zones on the guitar, eg, the E A at high frets. Not normally a problem but now that I am learning the whole fretboard playing other chords up there is dead, and not just a little. I thought it was strings so tried many - it is the guitar. Playing with a capo, chords also a bit more muted not in contact with the nut which helps the sound resonance. Obviously the low end on this one is poor. I also learned it is poor for fingerpicking which I also started recently. My old Yamaha FG-335 has much better tone and overtones. I have had mixed feelings over time which is why I waited to review. The answer to this is I bought a Martin D-28 Modern Deluxe using perks / gifts to bring down the cost to me. Different price range, but everything I wanted. Am I disappointed? Yes to some extent but then again any bright leads can be done on the 314ce. It has been a learning experience. Play the guitar you are going to buy. Play it at every string and fret. Maybe it is the wood (sapele). The whole guitar feels "tight" and constrained. Maybe with time it will relax. Many people love Taylor and I can see why, those who love bright, this is for them. I now need clear, balanced, and playable across the fretboard.

The folks at Guitar Center, Hoover, AL, specifically Chase are professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Chase set up a few Taylor guitars and left me alone on two separate visits to the store to play the instruments. Selecting the Taylor 314ce example with Sitka spruce top, sapele sides and back and V-class bracing, was an easy choice me. The tone, volume, sustain, intonation and versatility of this guitar simply exceeded my expectations. Eperienced player (45+ years) and I believe the ease of playability and renewed pleasure of playing this instrument will open up new musical opportunities for me. Recommended playing as many guitars in your price range as possible until you find the guitar that comfortably fits you and "speaks to you" and your style of playing. Once you find such a gem you won't want to put it back in the case.

I've owned my 314Ce for almost a year. Every time I pick it up, it brings a smile to my face. As good as it feels, the most amazing part is the dynamics. The 314Ce produces such a clean and pure sound. The tonal characteristics are as close to perfect as I've heard, throughout the fretboard. Obviously, there are many other models with more exotic materials and flash; However, from my perspective, it is hard to find an instrument that performs better. Take the blindfold test challenge and see if you agree. Cheers everyone!

I bought a 314CE more than ten years ago and played it for about a year. I liked the playability but we already had an acoustic electric player in our band so I focused on electric. Put the guitar away in the case in a closet where it stayed until a few months ago when my new band asked me to play acoustic on some country songs. Restrung the guitar with light acoustic strings but discovered it was difficult to play and also didn't sound so good when using a capo up the neck. After watching a few you tube videos, I adjusted the neck and the guitar was like new. I was surprised at how easily the neck came around. Really enjoying getting some use out of the guitar. Also fun to play gigs knowing it will stay in tune the entire four hours.

I have 5 guitars and this one is the best. You can purchase Items to spruce it up sum but really it's a beautiful guitar already. Comes with a great case. Mine is slightly brown with a plush lining Just looks and feels like quality. I know there are more expensive Taylors out there but I can't imaging it could sound better than this one. Made in U.S.A not Mexico.
