Description
Taylor Guitars is proud to introduce the Builder's Edition 324ce, an ecologically-minded acoustic-electric guitar that delivers masterful craftsmanship and trailblazing innovation. Featuring a solid mahogany top, and back and sides of Urban Ash sourced from Southern California, the 324ce produces an exceptionally balanced and versatile sound. At its heart is Taylor's groundbreaking V-Class bracing, which boosts volume, sustain and intonation for notes that sing loud and true all along the fretboard. Plug in the onboard ES2 electronics for a natural amplified tone with intuitive controls.
V-Class Bracing Unlocks the 324ce's Full Potential
Taylor's patented V-Class bracing is a breakthrough in acoustic guitar design that optimizes resonance and tone. Notes ring clearly from the first fret to the last, harmonics shimmer and chords bloom richly without "sour" tones. The 324ce responds dynamically to any playing style, from gentle fingerpicking to vigorous strumming. Its voice is muscular yet refined, projecting powerfully while maintaining crisp articulation.
Urban Ash Body Wood With Outstanding Sustain
The 324ce's back and sides are crafted from Urban Ash, a wood with acoustic properties similar to mahogany, koa and blackwood. Sustain is a hallmark of this dense hardwood, which gives notes a focused, fundamental-centric tone and allows them to ring out for what seems an eternity. Although the Urban Ash's origin is unorthodox, its musical qualities are utterly sublime.
Onboard Electronics Capture the 324ce's Essence
Taylor's ES2 pickup system features three sensors that capture the nuances of the 324ce's tone with exceptional fidelity. Volume, bass and treble controls provide simple yet effective tone shaping for any live or studio application. Whether amplified or acoustic, the 324ce delivers a cohesive, balanced sound that will satisfy even the most discerning ears.
Premium Features and Aesthetics
The Builder's Edition 324ce includes premium features for unparalleled comfort and playability, including a beveled armrest, cutaway and ebony fretboard. A satin finish and decorative wood inlays give this guitar a one-of-a-kind appearance perfectly suited to its status as a special guitar. Overall, the 324ce melds cutting-edge design with a timeless sensibility, creating an instrument for the ages.

Never thought I'd be blown away by a guitar again...
After playing for over 20 years, hearing hundreds of guitars...you tend to not be blown away when picking one up for the first time. This has happened 3 times in my own playing journey, and the third time was picking this guitar up for the first time. I couldn't put it down. I had shown up to demo a few different Taylors (and a Martin or two) and this was not on the list being considered. After playing a few Grand Concert style bodied guitars (and much preferring it in recent years), I was hesitant to pick up a Grand Auditorium body guitar. They've never been quite comfortable for me to play, and this is a major exception to the rule. Comfort here is top tier, a whole other level. The beveled arm rest, chamfered edges, and beveled cut away should be on every acoustic guitar. It creates a "slim" feeling while maintaining the full body size and scale length. Incredible, to say the least. The tone that pours out, the dynamic ability to play loud and immediately transition to softer, tactful playing...it's honestly mind blowing. This guitar sits right in between the "midrange" that Mahogany is known for and the "brilliant highs with deep base" that a combo of Spruce and Rosewood typically brings. The pairing of Mahogany on the top, with the Urban Ash sides brings the best of it all. Warm tone, but shining top end with great low end delivery. You don't miss a thing when it comes to sustain either, the notes can ring for what seems like 10 times longer than it should. The clarity within the decay is unreal. The fretboard and neck? Smooth, comfortable, wonderfully shaped. The feel of the satin finish? Divine. The Gotoh tuners? Insanely accurate and fine in rotation. The setup out of the box? Literally, perfect. I couldn't have asked to find a better guitar after looking for a new acoustic for the last few years (replacing a Martin 000). This was the one.

Awesome Feel, Different Tone
I was excited to get this guitar. Mahogany top plus new urban ash as a builder's edition. I was stoked. The builder's edition finishing and beveled arm rest, cut away, and edges was so, so comfortable and the finish was amazing. I wanted so badly to love this guitar. But the tone was just not what I was hoping for. Mahogany is usually warmer in tone to me than spruce. Maybe I got a funky specific guitar, but I wasn't a fan of the Urban Ash. I finger picked, flat picked, chorded with rhythm, and ran riffs. I couldn't hear the high end for the bass which is so much opposite from any other Taylor I have heard. I'm not a huge fan of the typical brightness of Taylor's where the high end drowns out the bass. I took this back and traded it in for the standard 324ce mahogany top with Blackwood back and sides and THAT guitar is where it is at! Wonderful balance of tones and the warmth you would expect from mahogany. I do like the v-brace sustain and intonation. That was great on the builder's edition as well. Like I said, maybe I just got a funky example of the builder's edition or maybe the tone just wasn't for me. If you're in love with Taylor's, maybe it will be great for your collection. I have various high end Martin's, Breedloves, and Gibson's, but I was looking for a great mahogany guitar to add to my collection. The standard 324ce met that and actually exceeded what I wanted.

I really like the sound overall. The electric pickups are very low volume when played into an amp. My problem is with the frets. When i first got the guitar, it had a buzz on b string, now after almost 2 years the frets are worn on the b string. Not under warranty per Taylor.
Love this guitar!

This guitar is a piece of art. Beautiful. Sounds incredible and is the best overall guitar I ever purchased. Taylor never fails to deliver. It also comes with a very durable hard case that fits the guitar like a glove. It also I had a very comfortable feel to play.
No pick guard?

Played one of these and it sounded incredible. But a beautiful, expensive guitar like this with no pick guard? I'd be afraid to play it for fear of scratching it up. Sorry.

Nice guitar but not for me

I am not here to bash Taylor, I own one. They are a wonderful company making great guitars, just not for me. I purchased this on line certain that it was what I was looking for ( I high end acoustic) but I was left disappointed. I wanted to love it but the high end was ear piercing to me especially when amplified. I could not dial out the ice pick high end and when I got rid of most of it it was lifeless. The guitar itself is well built and absolutley beautiful, and play like a dream. I have friends that tell me I am crazy but then they pick up my Martin D35 (that is what I ended up with) and they STFU quick. Again many people LOVE these guitars and sound great playing them, I am just not one of them. I will say everyone that has played my Martin are blown away and say it is the best sounding and playing acoustic they have ever played. I agree :)
Amazing build quality, lovely tone!

The 324ce Builder's Edition is a wonderful guitar and a joy to play! The build quality is top notch and the finish conveys a dark, understated beauty. I own several guitars including a Martin and a custom 12 fret Taylor, but I find that I am constantly drawn back to this guitar because of its amazing tone. The tone woods (mahogany and urban ash) definitely have a more 'mellow', well rounded sound that is unlike the stereotypical Taylor. In fact, if you are seeking that traditional 'Taylor sound', this probably isn't the right guitar for you. That said, the tone is so well balanced and smooth...it's like drinking a really big cabernet that's opened up perfectly! One suggestion however... I switched out the PB Elixir strings that come standard on the guitar, with a set of Martin retro nickel.... and WOW. Talk about tone! I can't imagine going back to using PB strings on this guitar. Best way to summarize, is to say that this guitar won't be leaving the guiatarsenal!
