I immediately could tell that these were an upgrade to any other flatwound I have used in the past. Worth the money!

These strings made a HUGE improvement in my sound. I have tried most popular flats, and found a couple that I like a lot, but nothing compares to these. They took a couple of days to feel comfortable (break in), but the sound improved immediately. I recently purchased a Sadowsky and found it too bright for my taste. I intended to install flats and figured it deserved Thomastiks. That turned out to be exactly what it needed. It's the sound I've been looking for. All of my 5 string basses, whether they are fretted or fretless, have flats. I've been happy with each, but now I intend to replace all with these strings. If I had tried these sooner, I would have saved time and $$.in the long run.

still using my first set for 15 months now, bought the second set to replace them when needed.I play at least one hour a day (not professionally) and was gifted my first set and a professional setup for these strings for my birthday (otherwise I never would have bought them for myself as they are quite expensive).my beloved fender precision 5-string will never have any other string than these. I lov'em. I

I have used these for years on all my basses. I recently had to use a different manufacturers flat wound strings and the differences is really remarkable. These strings are so much part of my tone and my sound that I will not use another manufacturer. Also, my basses are sting-thru the body types and these strings are long enough to deal with the extra length needed. Highly recommended...even at the price (they are expensive).

Very cool sound. It tones down a bubinga fretless that was too harsh with rounds. The low B string is well balanced with the rest of the set. I am used to having to pluck the B lightly. This 5 string set fixes that. I have only had them a week so I don't know about longevity, but they are flats, so it's almost implied.
