A Professional Travelers Saving Grace
I am a professional IT guy/geek who travels every week, making it hard to practice and frustrating to have playing withdrawls. I bought my Ultralight in Aug 2009 and have used it over a one year. I LOVE it. It looks like a blonde Steinberger, is easy to pass thru security in airports, I have Never been questioned/refused it as a 3rd piece of luggage, and it is a Great conversation starter at airport bars. It is Much more entertaining practicing than listening to a MP3 player. My stick stays in tune - even when travel across states. continents and drastic changes of temperature and humidity. The piezo pickup sounds good for 'acoustic' sounds and does a great job even for metal riffs (my favorite BTW). Recommended 'amps': Vox Amp-plugs - get the Acoustic model and at least one of the other models (I prefer Classic Rock/marshall, Lead/boutique, or Metal/mesa); Line-6 Pocket-POD-Express (perfect - much easier to use than the fatter and more complex Pocket-POD). Get a Vox Amp-plug Cab which can be used with either the Vox or POD units. Rock on and fly right.

The parts I got are great
I think the product is great, it's missing the chrome lap rest bar, never received. I have called my local store a few times now and apparently not much is being done on that end either. I pull appreciate someone contacting me about this.

Easy to play neck, stable tuning and good sound plugged-in, but calling it an acoustic is a bit of a stretch. Still, this is a fantastic option for travel. I am in the army reserve and often travel in very austere conditions, but as a new guitarist regular practice is essential. This guitar makes it easy to maintain my existing skills and learn new ones, even when traveling light and rough.

Fits wonderfully in the overhead bin of a regional jet. I typically travel with a small briefcase and now with my Traveler. It's just like playing an un-amplified electric, plenty loud to know what you're practicing while away on business in a hotel room. I tested the output and was pleasantly surprised at the rich tone it put out, although I rarely plug it in. Overall worth the money if you're looking to keep in practice while on the road.

This is a great little guitar that allows me to practice wherever in the world I find myself. Easy to pack into a car and I look forward to taking it with me on a plane. Great to play in a hotel room because it is quiet.

I'm looking to buy my first trainer. So I'm not bothering anyone while i learn. Can i plug in headphones and practice either acoustic or electric? Is they're an app or something similar i could connect to or use to help me practice or follow along?
It requires an external amp, but give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can get you set up with the best fit amp for your needs.submitted6 years ago

Can I use my regular wired earbuds that I use with my iphone? Or do I have to buy earbuds or headsets that are compatible with this travel guitar?
I believe the only requirement is that the headphones have to be 1/4". So if you want to use normal earbuds you would need to get an adapter.submitted7 years ago

How does one choose between the ultralight acoustic with piezoelectric pickup vs the ultralight electric with the humbucker? Beyond the pickups how do they differ?
They are the same, except for the pickups. The piezo will simulate an acoustic guitar.submitted8 years ago
